He also informed me that due to recent price rises, the following link is there to help people with SWW, save money with certain freebies to help save water if it is of any help to anyone.

Rikki when did you change over to a meter?
If you still have an old water bill it will show you what the RV was. The RV figure for your property will be the same last year as it was in 1989 (as that was the last time RV's were assessed). So if you've got any bill from before you went on to the meter and after 1990 you will be able to work it out if you know also how much they are charging RV's now.

Well i thought i would have a bit of an up-date since we moved off RV rates onto a water meter on April 12th.
I decided to run this as a bit of an experiment and did not tell the kids that we had a water meter fitted so we have had no real change to our water usage, its been business as usual.
It was costing us £2.48 a day on the RV rates, over the last 85 days on the meter its cost us £1.67 a day.
So in therory we should see a saving of £296.71 from just having the meter fitted (around 2/3rds of my electric bill PA)
Happy days

Any news in your region about the 'assistance' the Government promised with the very high SW water bills?0
-
Not a sausage Cardew. Its just something they bandy around close to election time then forget about, i wouldn't think that any goverment would really want to tackle the issue as the only real way of bringing coastal water bills down is for landlocked area's to help subsidized the cost of waste treatment. If they act on the walker report most of us fear it will just mean a hike in the working familys bills that live within the region... thats a well that is fast running dry.0

If it makes you feel any better (I doubt it) I'm also with SWW and we have high water usage (2 kids, one of which disabled and wets the bed). I just paid up my water (missed the last bill): over £400
ETA: That is despite being careful with water - honestly! There are some houses in the village that are not metered (ex council, can't be metered as they have shared supply) and I am jealous when I see them watering the garden, washing the car, etc.
We live in a council house in a village, and our water isn't shared? Our neighbour has had a meter fitted.
We pay alot, £411 for the year, and that's with a discount, because the water from the guttering goes into a soakaway.
You wouldn't be jealous of our water. It's saturated with chlorine. It's a good job we're not on a meter, because we have to run the tap to get rid of the worst of it, that has been standing in the pipes.
Our tea tastes like TCP, we can smell it when we flush the loo, and the most worrying, is that it comes up with the steam from the bath water.

The 9% rise came in April 2011 for those that were on RV rates not meters, im not sure how much or if the meter charges were increased as we only had our fitted in April0 -
