Go on tar EVERY young person with the same brush - it is so annoying when bringing (not dragging) you're children in the correct appropriate way, to come across comments like yours. People read them and then think the hype in the tabloids MUST be true.

Some are just nice kids, who get a bit fed up of narrow minded adults, who should probably know better.

Please quote your source. Also define "common". Is 12 a common age, or is it part of an age range ie 12-16?

I think generalised statements on such an important issue are not very helpful. It's fine if you would like to say that I have many friends who lost their virginity at 12, but try not to speak for the rest of the population if your words cannot be backed up.


I think a nice bear or a personalised mug might be nice.

My daughter is just 13 and in her circle of friends I could be 100% positive that none of them have even kissed a boy, let alone anything else!
