I dont think its a psychic issue either, Aliasojo, I am leaning towards the idea that the 'corpse' is either a personal issue you have with someone - which hasnt been resolved (the fact that in the dream the corpse can be different people is another aspect of you 'burying' the issue) or you have an issue with a childhood 'dream' of achieving something. the corpse can be anyone in this dream and the way the corpse is getting buried while still 'alive' to you, is making me think that subconsciously you believe you can still achieve this dream or goal.
The role of the undertakers is making me wonder if someone callously destroyed your chances of achieving this dream/goal. Did you set aside your career plan to please the family? have artistic leanings which they overrode with 'common sense'? Think hun! and next time the dream comes realise you are in charge now, and invite the corpse to come sit, and talk to you. sounds impossible? its not, if you think about being in charge of this dream during the day and before you go to sleep, your subconscious will remember this and allow you to do this! may take a couple of goes (to convince your subconscious) but you CAN do this!
Good luck!

Having said that, yes, I agree the agenda for the dreamworld should be set during the day. I suspect that this approach will actually not lead to any memorable dreams, simply because the issue will have the tension taken out of it by allowing it to speak. I would expect some picture of what the issue is to emerge in the waking hours.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Is it possible that it's recurring because you are thinking about it a lot, and vice versa? I always have weird dreams which make no sense (wedding stress dreams about there being no food a month AFTER our wedding and other obvious dreams which just don't really bear any relation to reality etc) but I do find that it's the ones that make most impact first which repeat on me, and often it's because I think 'Oh, I hope I don't have that dream again' whilst trying to sleep!
I'm not so bothered about them now, apart from the occasional stinker or really tiring one, but I used to listen to talk radio or books on tape as I was trying to sleep - I still dreamt, but they were often more related to whatever had been on the radio before I went to sleep rather than some of the more annoying or upsetting subjects.
I have also experienced dreams which relate to subjects that I don't let myself think about - the possibility of bad things happening to my family and friends etc - and to be honest there's nothing to be gained by 'confronting' the issues during daylight so I just try to divert my dreams as I divert my thoughts when I'm awake, hence the bed-time distractions. It might not help you get to the bottom of any issue which might need confronting, but if you can't pinpoint a particular subject that they might relate to, treating the symptoms might be the only way forwards.0 -

Its not quite the same thing hun. Aliasojo has had this dream over a number of years............this suggests something repressed from her past. either childhood or teen years. the dream may have different corpses - but it follows a pattern. with variations as Aliasojo has grown up.
the basic theme remains the same..............this leads me to think its ONE event or reason. Her aunts death MAY have triggered this - as its reminded her subconscious of the dream - and unless Aliasojo explores and resolves this then each funeral she attends may trigger the dream more and more in future. That would be her subconscious reminding her that 'hey, your time is finite, you wanna do this then do it now, before its too late!'.
I may be completely wrong! probably am, but, if this prompts Aliasojo to search for the reason behind the recurring dreams - my post has served its purpose.0 -

I honestly don't feel my Aunt's death is linked to this, I think the timing is co-incidental (but I also may be completely wrong).
If anything, I think it may be more relationship linked but again I don't really know.
What I didn't mention in the first post (largely because it doesn't scare me) is that I also have a second recurring theme. Nowhere near as regularly or to the extent of the corpse theme but I've had it several times over the last few years too. I had it last night and this morning I'm wondering if both themes are connected.
I dream I am moving house. I agree on a particular house without seeing it and when moving day comes, I discover the house I am leaving is much better than the one I am going to and it makes me very upset.
Last night's house was a large roomed flat that had a square turret like you would see on a castle (how's that for delusions of grandeur) and it had lots of interesting quirks and features. I managed to see this one before moving day and I quickly realised it was falling to bits. If you pushed and pulled yourself back and forward, you could make the room sway, the staircase to the turret was shonky and dangerous, there were lots of clocks on the wall up to the top of the turret, they acted like cogs and the one nearest the top didn't work, although the other ones seemed to. They all showed different times and weren't in any order.
The rooms the kids were supposed to have were horrible, one had a glass patio door out onto a shop roof into the High Street and yobs were hanging about. I didn't see which bedroom was mine.
This was apparently a council flat (quite a feat I believe and you can't simply sell your home and get a council house just like that around here) and I ran to the office and cried and pleaded with the woman to rip up the agreement I had signed and to let me keep my own home. I woke up before I knew whether I was allowed to stay or not.
I believe the house reference in dreams is a reference to the self. IS that linked to the person 'wont die' theme of the corpse dreams? Or am I making connections where there are none. The clock reference suggested to me that time was running out, but for what? It could be linked to relationship troubles, children troubles, money troubles, OH's employment troubles and possible job loss and also a health issue.
Kinda ironic that I welcome sleep at night just to get some peace and now sleep is every bit as annoying as the waking day.
Thanks all btw, you're much cheaper than therapy.

DVardysShadow wrote: »I did pick up on someone making reference to your house refurb - sorry, I think I should be more aware of this! To me, taking on board the idea that dreams are about learning, it seems to me that this is a straightforward re learning of the lesson to check out the next property thoroughly and be sure of what you are letting yourself in for. Possibly a recurrent dream, simply from the fact that you don't move house every month, so you don't get much chance to put the lesson into practice
I've lived in this house for 24 years. The refurb was simply improvements. It's not like the house was bought and then we found out we had to do x, y or z. iyswim.
It's been going on far too long though and I'm resentful of it now, it is another tether...something that I have to attend to.Herman - MP for all!0 -
aliasojo- I too have recurring dreams about houses, 2 seperate ones, that have gone on a number of years. The 1st is about somewhere I used to live and when I go back it has always been extended/improved, in a way that is not possible in RL.
Earlier this year I looked it up, and you are right the house does represent 'self', so mine is about self-improvement. Ironically I was doing a self-development course when I last had the dream which prompted me to look it up.
Does this fit in with anything else?0 -
I think it would really be worth you reading a lot of Jungian-based dream analysis books and getting to grips with the idea of the symbolic in general. Jung is very much different from Freud in that a Freudian analysis (generally) treats the subconscious as a bit like a repository for rubbish that we have repressed from our waking lives, whereas Jung sees dreams as serious attempts by our psyche to reach self-realisation.
The house is a typical symbol the mind conjures up to represent all the different parts of your psyche - and the kids in the dream are not actually your kids - they are symbolic of a part of your psyche, often the child in the dream will represent your true self - the cellar may represent your deepest subconscious, while the turret represents your conscious state (so of course it is difficult to get up there in your dream, cos you're asleep lol). Similar themed dreams will have lifts instead of staircases etc, or large bodies of water representing the subconscious. It's clear that dreaming of a which isn't quite "right" and which has elements of danger nearby indicates that not all is "right" with you generally maybe, and that's something you have to think about and analyse for yourself. Do you suffer from anxiety or feel like something is missing? You've hinted you have lots of "troubles" - are you feeling like you have to be the strong one for everyone and outwardly coping while inside you are worrying very much? If so this repressed emotion has to come out somewhere and your dreams would be the obvious place for your psyche to tell you to face your fears.
The corpse dream would obviously be linked into this - it's obviously representing some big issue that is continuing to haunt you, or an amalgamation of all the worries you currently have that refuse to go away - does it feel like life is a continual battle with overwhelming problems?
I would definitely recommend reading some Jung, starting with beginners guides, in order to understand the different elements of the psyche and how they will manifest in your dreams, then you will probably find your dreams changing and becoming more positive the more you understand what is going on.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -

Will check out (the very) beginners guides.
FWIW, if the corpse dream is related, I would say that you have possibly made a bit of progress on that, simply for the fact that you are now with the housing dream.
