Sounds like it has been fixed then Foxy.We took on Mr T and we won:D
Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now :beer:0 -
A trillion thanks to the OP and others - I got myself a premium last night. They tried every trick in the book to squirm out of it, blatantly kept me there till HO were closed, but there was no way I was leaving the store without my RnR. The manager I spoke to was instantly condescending, which stopped after about ten seconds when I informed him that his tone was unneeded and if he continued I would be having words with REAL management. Suffice to say, this put him in an even better mood
The silly line manager below him lied at one point about there being a third XBox available beyond Core and Premium (which wasn't in stock at £18x.xx
), which I instantly called her on and asked if she would leave the conversation until she was willing to tell the truth or update her product knowledge - I even suggested some kind of training would be in order for her (Sorry - it was a bit OTT but I can out-condescend the best of them
). Prior to this, I had followed the advice and made sure I kept my eye on both the DVD case that was scanned, and the SELs (and cardboard display). The female line manager had removed the SELs, but I made damn sure I was there when she did it.
At one point, they disappeared off "to make a phone call" and returned with information that they had just viewed the security footage, and I had taken the DVD from the wrong area. Suffice to say, I enquired why they viewed the footage when they could have asked me, and I had already stated exactly where I had obtained the DVD case from. They then tried to wriggle out of it by saying I had obtained the DVD case from the wrong area - again, this didn't last long (I came up with some kind of "pork pie in the sausage roll section" thing!). I also saw one of the display boxes still on the octagonal stand - I asked if they would be so kind as to scan it and check the price (a bit risky, but i had a DVD case version - this was the square box version) - sure enough, it came up at the higher price and more evidence was there
The manager completely refused to admit it was an overcharge, and would only let me have a refund or the £20. I stuck by my guns, and informed him I would take it up with HO and said my goodbyes. On my way out, I dropped into CS again and asked if I could call HO. No-one in. Never mind, thinks I (as I see the aforementioned manager finishing his shift for the night and leaving the store) - I'll have another word. Trip back to the Electricals section, still clutching my 360 - "Can I have another word with the manager I was speaking to please?" - "Sorry sir - he's gone for the night" *Cue me feigning surprise - "Could I see the replacement manager please?"
The electricals guy (who has been a star to be honest - totally straight up with everyone, telling it all exactly as it's been) then wanders off to find the manager. Ten minutes later, he returns with the news - "We're going to refund all your money, and you get to keep the product."
Job done. I didn't feel one ounce of remorse or guilt, as the moment the manager arrived, he tried to treat me like a criminal - I was having none of it. Stick by your guns people -we are in the right, they are in the wrong! They lied to me, refused to honour their own policy, made a pathetic attempt to intimidate me, and their ground staff customer service is shameful. I am not a serial RnR'r (in fact, this is only about my third or fourth EVER, despite spotting quite a few) and I'd only dropped into Tescos to grab a bottle of wine, but when I spied the prices, I had a shot and I took it. Chances are, if theyd've been nice about it, I would've given up the ghost and got a refund - how hard is it to go "oops - we made a mistake, our eternal apologies, we'll make sure everything is removed now sir - would you like a full refund or your £20 back?" - rather than lie, backtrack and cover your own a$$ whilst wasting my time?
I don't particularly want a 360 and one of my friends is getting a cracking present this year - he deserves it!
Tell the truth and don't take their verbal diarrhea people - and I truly hope that someone from Tescos reads my account and starts instructing their management to show some respect to their customers - and maybe they'll get a bit back?

Anyone managed to get an xbox this morning?
I tried 2 different stores last night with no joy.0 -
Majik - your experience completely highlights that it's not entirely 'Tesco' to blame in situations like that - a great deal has to do with the people that they have working for and ultimately representing them.
Well done on getting there in the end though! :rotfl:0 -
Osakan wrote:Sorry to disappoint you all, but by my latest count it is only about 60 (declared), still £14k of loss (profit, not just revenue) in a day has got to hurt just a little.
Although to put that in perspective, with £2.2Bn annual profits, that is less than a quarter of 1% of their daily profit. But you know what they say, every little helps
If there are more out there still who haven't told me yet, please let me know.
This is a little pessimistic osakan, it would suggest that no others had r&r on any other items. I myself had over £100 of r&r yesterday, and failed to spot an xbox. I would suggest we get a lot more than that out of them on a daily basis.;)I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
Hi all, I'm pretty new here and just have a general question about mispricings (a little off the xbox subject, congratulations to all who got one!). How does everyone know what the items scan at without actually going through the tills? If the SEL says one price but it's believed to be another how can we check without having to buy it? Many thanks for any responses and please excuse my ignorance!0

Take it to the chemist counter and say there is no price on the shelf "could you scan it and tell me how much it is" unless you are going for an RNR on a packet of beechamsTESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
