It's an idea but certain to get unwelcome attention if you are seen scanning bits of paper, or even seen writing down barcodes (in some stores). Maybe best to use one local store to check scan prices, even if it means taking a couple of 'possibles' to the till with your milk and bread then - if necessary -realising you don't have enough money....much less likely to get noticed IMHO.

Then use the info you glean to buy the R&R DVD(s) later at other store(s) if you are close to several, as most of us are.

I try not to use the scanners now, when I had my meeting with the store manager at the store I got banned from, the one thing he kept banging on about was the fact they had watched me scanning stuff then getting R&Rs, he obviously didnt have good enough footage to see exactly what I scanned, but both the manager and head of security said that they had watched me scanning on more than one occasion.
He stopped short of telling me they watch the scanning points but he might as well have!
I certainly wont be using the scanner in that shop again, I dont want it to sound like I'm scaremongering here but I speak from experience when I say they do watch the Scanning points, especially if you are known in the store as an R&Rer you are likely to be watched.

Instead of writing the barcoides down you could tap the no. into your mobile which would attract a lot less attention.
  • was in tesco the other day. woman in front of me had loads of shopping and a nokia mobile (well the dvd case to pay for it). she started moaning to the checkout boy that she should have saved £x. i took it upon myself to collect the mobile...walk out and the discover she had been overcharged and point out the policy behind the cs counter while the cs bod only offered to refund the difference. dont know what happened as didnt hang around but i know the cs witch was on....lol....

anyhow just so u know mobiles still not kicking in the disount when u spend so much...that or the sel was out of date?

Not that I know of, but if there is a McDonalds nearby you can go on BT openzone (PAYG service)

Or, if you were lucky enough to get a Nintendo DS you should get the new internet browser for it, then you should be able to access the internet for free at a McDonalds and various other BTopenzone places.

Havent got one yet but intend to!
