Just got a free kindle from the ShareTrade offer. At same time wife got a Kobo touch (which retails in the same price bracket).
There's no comparison, the Kobo is FAR!!!!!!!!!! superior to the Kindle
The Kindle is just so constrained (libraries, adding a conversion step), lacks touchscreen (I know it's coming, but not here yet-onscreen keyboard is such a pain and web browsings a joke), Kobo looks so much better.
If I hadn't got it free I would have sent it back and got a Kobo in a heartbeat0 -

Kobo Wireless eReader - Onyx - Was £67 Now £59 at ASDA Direct.
The Kobo eReader Touch Edition is also available for £87 reduced from £97 in either Silver, Lilac, Black, or Blue.

Apparently this is the best kindle alternative at it's most basic form. And just read stphnstevey's post and guess that verifies it [though that's the touch].0 -
@ HelenDaveKids
Yes, you should have no problem with Windows 7.0 -

This is ideal for any new expensive releases, you can split the cost of one between you.
Good morning Rupert. Just wondered if you would be able to post step by step instructions for copying onto the computer (assume I could copy it onto the desktop) and then back onto a kindle (not sure how to do this). Thank you in advance. Me and my Mum have currently swapped kindles to read books which we have both bought as new releases !!!0 -

Not tried it yet, but think this only works if both Kindles are registered to the one person. I bought one for my mum and registered it to me so we can share books more easily. If this is the case with you then transferring a book is easy.
Connect Kindle with the source book and a you Kindle directory will show in a file manager window. Double click on documents and search for your book. When you find it place your cursor over it and right click and select copy. Now paste the file (book) onto you desktop. Close all Kindle directories and 'safely remove' Kindle from PC window. Now connect the other Kindle and follow the procedure to open document directory. Now select book on desktop and right click and 'cut' and 'paste' file into the open Kindle documents window. Hi everyone,
On the back of all your comments about the difference between the Kobo and the Kindle, I've tested each and written a blog review of my findings:

I hope it's useful for some. Appreciate any feedback you have
