  • Chickpeas.

    Chicken & Chickpea stew.

fry sliced onions and garlic, then add some diced chicken and brown that. Add a tin of tomatoes, paprika, oregano and tin of chickpeas and simmer for about 20 minutes. Great with some custy bread. Works well with chorizo instead of chicken too.

I've had a similar stew with squash and a bit of chorizo for flavour rather than chicken, was lovely.

I'd like to buy a chicken to roast and last for a few days/meals - any ideas? I'll probably be cooking only for myself so I should be able to stretch it out if I can think of something interesting to do with it!

I have a small amount of bolognese left from tea last night in the fridge as well as a piece of puff pastry - what do you think bolognese pasties would taste like?! I think they sound delish! :T

I have a difficult one. I bought 3 jars of smart price curry sauce and after trying to use 1 I gave up and they are lurking in the back of the cupboard. I bought them for the glass jars. I tried using one to make a quick curry sauce, added loads more spices but it still tasted like artificial yuk!!!!! So tempted to chuck em, but even though they just cost 9p each, it goes against the grain.
I also have a jar of Sweet n Sour sauce ( uncle Bs I think) that someone gave me. None of the family like sweet n sour, so can I use it for anything else?
I may just give them away on freecycle, rather than using other ingredients up to make something even half edible!!!!!

I like the 9p curry sauce it is like the sort of curry we made at home in the early '80's. It is lovely with some cooked meat, a chopped bramley apple, handful of sultanas, bit of dessicated coconut, an onion.

    Hi rosie,

This thread may give you some inspiration for the curry sauce:
