Glad to see Lucy is out and having fun!

I have loads on this month so need to be strict with the pennies, whilst still having a life.

I remember Lucy asking a while back how you deal with unwanted attention from the opposite sex whilst out. I have perfected a Miss Snooty face which I pull on them and if that doesn't work then I simply say 'Look I'm quite happy here by myself, do you mind leaving me alone?'. If that doesn't work then there's a short word followed by another short word that you can always crack out if need be!!!!

Hope you're all well and XXX

This is my first ever post, and have to admit it has taken me ages to pluck up the courage to write something,

As a single person, I have to admit I prefer being on my own, when friends offer to come with me on holiday, I find I am making excuses as to why they can't come, Going on my own I find I can do what I want when I want without having to ask someone else.
The only thing I will NOT do is go into a pub on my own, sure why.

I spend £175 on food and lunches for work per month.

Does anyone know if there is one single thread where you can join all the challenges, as I have noticed on a lot of signitures challenges which sound like fun, but not sure how to find them.

    Brilliant thread by the way.

    Hi May!

Thanks for your post! Can I ask how old you are? Also what type of holidays do you go on by yourself? I feel comfort in knowing that you too can't sit in a pub on your own x

May!! Welcome. I was just coming on here to find out if Lucy had surfaced yet. Dirty stop out.

Well done for posting - its good to hear from you

Hhhm good question about the challenges. I just used to ask people - If I saw a challenge in their sig. I think the NSD is a good one to do - that's on the DFW board and is run by the lovely SolventSoon - I don't do it at present but it was a very friendly thread.

Just go for a wander - have a look at the new posts list and also have a look at the boards to see what threads there are.

Hey CurlyGirl! Have so much to update here but typing on my iPhone and it's not easy! Laptop has died!!!!

Hey Souky!!! I am typing from iPhone. Not easy with this website! One thing about going out and having fun... You meet people who want to meet up with you again... All good if your budget allows for that extra bit of socialising but mine doesnt :(

    Hi Dave

Would you say you have more money as married opposed to being single?

I'm in my early thirties, so far I have been to Europe, Asia and all over the country. I just prefer being by myself. I actually find it makes me more confident and independent going by myself. I know if I was with someone I would probably always let them take the lead/make final descision as to what to do and then be very annoyed.

I love being single, I find it frustrating that everyone assumes you are just waiting for the right guy to come along, well I'm not, lol.

Sorry can't workout how you add the smilies..

Hi May! I admire you, I've tried going away on my own and just can't learn to like it. And welcome to the forums. At this rate we'll be starting a thirty something single girls thread.....it would, of course, have to come with cocktails....

Lucy - I read an article recently which suggested single life costs us about £6k more a year than cohabiting/married chums. Makes sense. There used to be a family of three in my flat. Still costs the same to heat, repair, buy etc regardless of how many people live here, same goes for the car etc.

Can I join the 30-something single thread...even if I'm married? pleeeasseeee, go-on go-on - let me, you sound like a lovely bunch and I do love a nice cocktail or two :)

Lucy - I managed not to rake the exact advise I gave you last night about group meals ...went out for a friends b'day. I didn't have starter like everyone else, just some bread, main - which happened to be the cheapest on the menu, and dessert plus a glass of red wine (from the bottle we ordered) my food came to about £15, then when the bill came and the suggestion was to split it I merrily mumbled my agreement :o which meant that I had to chip in £23 (they suggested £25 each but I said £23 included my tip as I didn't have starter) but that still meant my glass of wine cost nearly £8  So much for taking my own medicine eh? Still, I can't complain, the birthday girl bought us all cocktails in the next bar and they weren't cheap I can tell ya, so that was really sweet of her x

ps rather worried about ani - hope she's just working but not seen her on here or her diary :(
