  • The thing I really like about the pud is that it tastes really luxurious, like the puds Nigella and Nigel (Slater) always insist you use expensive chocolate for. I've nothing against expensive choc- it's the only kind I eat ;) but you don't need it to make a glorious tasting fudgy pudding. There's only a couple of spoonfuls of butter in it too. But the best thing about it as far as my family is concerned is that there are no eggs in it, which makes it OK for DD:)

Thick cream is an essential accompaniment;)

I made Queenie's everyday biscuits for the children in my class. They were much enjoyed. Thank you Queenie.

Just had chocolate fudge pudding tonight. Everyone suitably impressed. I like the egg free aspect too as neighbours hens are moulting and thus not laying many eggs at the moment.
All I can add is thank goodness Paul McKenna is making me thin!:j

Our houseguest this weekend is violently allergic to eggs so finding a dessert he can have can be a challenge. Spotted this recipe at just the right time, and it was so scrummy I could envisage it being served in expensive restaurants. Sent him off with the recipe ...
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I think this is an excellent pudding - but I usually make it with black coffee rather than water, which gives a lovely mocha flavour - you can also try with a couple of spoons of whiskey or brandy for an adult pudding. I'm going to try with the grated rind of an orange and the juice - for a chocolate orange taste which I think will work too!

I mean, once you have a brilliant basic recipe it would be a crime not to exploit it, wouldn't it? :rotfl:
