Richie-from-the-Boro wrote: »You are doing it again, what has my usage got to do with my question ? my question was about the increase in cost not an increase caused by ( + / - ) usage.
A leccy company like all suppliers is putting its prices up, usage has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Its a simple cost not consumption question.
If I used a hundred times more leccy or a hundred times less leccy it would make no difference whatsoever to my question.
You asked about how much percentage on average one would be expected to pay.
You later decided what you wanted to know was what the percentage increase you would pay annually is.
Either way has everything to do with usage. Please supply the details I requested if you really want the answer to your own situation.
e.g. let me give you a simple example using some made up (and yes rather wild) figures.
Lets assume you use 10,000 units per year, 50% are low rate.
Lets assume daily standing charge was 1ppd and is now 10ppd (so 1000% increase)
Lets assume day rates were 10p, now 10.1p (so 1% increase)
Lets assume night rates were 5p, and still are (no change in price)
Lets assume no other charges/discounts apply
On your basis, the increase is 333.66% increase. i.e. (1000% + 1% + 0%)/3
But actually the old annual cost was:
daily standing charge: £3.65
day units: £500.00
night units: £250
Total annual cost: £753.65
new cost is
daily standing charge: £36.50
day units: £505.00
night units: £250
Total annual cost: £791.50
This represents an annual increase just over 5% compared to the incorrect way you would assess it as over 330%"Now to trolling as a concept. .... espresso.premier and others, no reluctance to post consumption figures, just don't have them, anyone using Scottish Power has to work with this.

Right I've dug out the above from their site, its all cut 'n pate accurate, other than my calc's in red. The red figures are simply the difference between the Feb and March figures.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. You can get your annual consumption figures from your supplier. They are also in the annual statement they provide.
I'm sure there is a record of the split of day & night usage somewhere - they need it to bill you if for no other reason.
The prices you say you copied and paste are identical - so I've used the ones you supplied previously which reflect the % increases you calculated.
It's all a bit of a guess as you don't know your annual day/night split. You also failed to confirm there were no other charges/discounts involved.
(You also didn't provide the tariff name or supply region)
So anyway, I've used the following assumptions:
1. You use a total of 9875kWh per year split 45% day and 55% night usage.
2. No other charges or discounts apply other than those you have informed us of.
On that basis, your annual bill would have been £761.90.
With the increases, it will now be £901.20
This represents an increase of 18.28%"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi,
getting a bit deep this.
Can I just ask where the info on the price increase is, SP had an increase in November.0 -

- there were no other charges/discounts as far as I'm aware
- supply area code is 15
- as stated earlier never had any contact certainly never had an annual settlement / statement ever
- - - other than a meter read request by email
You are correct I DUP'd, sorry about that should read

Thanks for your time, its appreciated, your answer to my question in #1 is : This represents an increase of 18.28%
I'll have another look at their site, other Scottish Power users reading this may wish to point me in the right direction, where on the SP site can I find :
- a record of the split of day & night usage
- where the tariff name can be foundDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Hi,Richie-from-the-Boro wrote: »- a record of the split of day & night usage

to get a split you will just need to look at each statement: Account balance & bill information down right hand side,
tariff info is at bottom of page after log-in.
Can I ask again where you heard of price increase, was increase in November, that's when I capped mine.0 -

Sorry M8, I've been out for a while.
Thanks for that, on mine it says - Product: Online Capped For Free - note : unlike yours there is no date on mine.
Regards your #27 question I was informed in a booklet accompanied by a letter simply stating that my '' Capped for free till March 2011 '' offer was about to end and that they would automatically move me over to the new '' Capped price energy September 2012 '' offer on the 1st of March.
Other than my name and account number there was no other info on the accompanying missive. So it looks like your plan ended in November 2010 and mine ends March 2011.
I've got the tariff info, its in their booklet called Capped Price Energy September 2012 Offer.
At least I now have two more pieces of the info-jigsaw, and yes opening each individual bill as a pdf lists (1) day and (2) night and (3) service charge breakdown.
For others asking there is an '' Internet discount '' of £2.11 for the period covering 20/11/2010 to 04/02/2011 per 6 or so weeks, that's 0.35p per week.
Salutary lesson here, I never bothered before even looking at their site let alone digging info out, I just put the meter reading in and paid my bill over the years.
Of interest my annual ' Daily Service Charge ' costs will jump from £60 ish to £96 ish after the first of MarchDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Hi,
thanks, so it's not a general price increase, only for customers like your self who have come to the end of a capped tariff.
I only capped mine last November, just before price increase, so lasts until December 2012.
As you can see I am on DD, so I put a reading in every month, day after DD payment, and print off a copy of statement, I also have a wee spreadsheet, and can keep my eye on annual usage.0
