When should ebay auction for a car close?

if your listing it in cars then you can...as did last week when the fiesta was listed..
Ahhh, didn't realise that, never would dream of selling a car by ebay, but it does apply to (almost?) everything else, cheers.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Mikey is wrong!
You do not have to take paypal when selling a car.
And you shouldn't do so - not just to save the paypal fees, but it gives a free money back guarantee to the purchaser!0 -

, if someone wants to save a few quid by paying cash they can do but more importantly as Quentin hints at, you are putting yourself, as a seller, at a greater risk of the buyer backing out and getting their money refunded by some spurious means if you use paypal.
Can you think of any other situation, at a dealers, auction or anywhere where you could buy a car then have the money refunded by the financier without the seller ok ing it??
The answer's NO
I would say that fairness and taking advantage of protection is very much in line with MSE philosophy. As well as steering clear of sellers who offer discounts for by-passing said protection. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Ignore this.
Never accept paypal or offer it when selling a car!!!!
The seller has no protection whatsoever, but the buyer would get full paypal protection!
Ignore what? There might be, but I'd rather refund the paypal transaction, lose the sale and be a non- performing seller to be honest.
For this sort of sale most buyers would bring the cash, give the car a once over, then hand it over I would expect.
I said never accept paypal for a car. Thankfully it appears ebay now agree as well, and the option of having to accept paypal appears to have been taken off.
For once commom sense (or customer pressure) appears to have triumphed over ebay profits.0 -

Has no legal standing if you're a trader - far more if you're a private seller.
Not something for an advert though - for the sales receipt.

It has "standing" in that it is true, when buying from a private seller.
It would have no "standing" from a retailer/dealer except the "without warranty bit" A dealer need not attach a warranty to a sale.
You could take the view based on the above that to put it on the receipt would be superfluous to both situations private seller/dealer because...
In the first, it is already the case.
In the second, half of it has no acceptable meaning.
However as the OP is a private seller, putting it on the receipt/ebay listing can have little harm... (though might lose you a few dimwit buyers putting it on the listing)....
a) Because it is true
b) Because it will help stop having the idiot buyer coming back 2 days after sale complaining the alternator does not work.0 -

I'm looking at it from the sellers point of view tho'. It is far too easy for the buyer to comeup with some bogus reason for rejecting a car after having had it for the weekend.
Both parties disagree and paypal steps in and refunds the money:wall::wall::wall:
Yes the protection for the buyer is great, but remember this post topic was started from a sellers viewpoint.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Accepting paypal for a car is asking for trouble,
Pay via paypal, go pickup car, wait a few days claim to paypal item not received.
Do you have proof of delivery ? if not fullr efund to the buyer as paypal are useless

But the raison detre of this site is to help consumers, not retailers/sellers.
