- Came into last months food budget so I'm now aiming for £300 for 8 of us for all meals and toiletries, nappies etc
- Started making my own scotch pancakes and freezing instead of buying shop bought
- Continued to line dry and I've only used the dryer once in the last 7 days
- Turned the water thermostat down on the boiler, I can tell a difference but I will persevere without my boiling hot baths.
- Made biscuits and cakes and cooked a meal in the "same oven usage" instead of heating it up again.
- Bought a 25kg bag of spuds which has made me think why don't I bulk buy onions! I think Lid1s do them in big packs, not sure.
- Continued with making my own "instant porridge" as it's gone down a treat, I've definitely not been buying as many cereal boxes.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -

I buy the Lidl ones - bit silly as I'm om my own most of the time!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Inspired by Iris's post about chickpeas, plus my recent haul of half-price quorn sausages, I made a big pot of Spanish chickpea and sausage stew last night. Today I am cooking all my veg into meals and freezing them in portions. I need to eat healthier and this way I can have something tasty defrosted every day when I come home from work. Will save a few bob too :money:
I got a letter from the council yesterday telling me I will be getting a new recycling bin for food waste. Food waste?! That sounds like a challenge to me!! :cool2: (Btw, bin tally now up to 5 council bins plus my own compost dalek!)0 -
Today I:
*Did an a/c tidy of 18p:o
*Persevered with a dying BBQ because I refuse to pay £2 for a BBQ and then end up using the gas on the cooker anyway!!
*Made lunches for work
*No Spend Day

This thread has gone quiet again-keep posting!
*So phoned up and upped my monthly overpayment-is now just short of £200.
*Husband and I have this week decided we're going to take money out on payday and put in a pot for groceries-we are terrible and both go for 2/3 shops a week- so hoping this will make us think about what we spend a little more.
*Had arranged to go to lunch with a friend today but we were both poor, ate our packed lunches at our desks then went out for a cheapy hot chocolate instead-saveda little bit of money there.
*sat down and went through finances-im now working part time and it feels like I've got no money after putting a little bit away/overpayment etc but have worked out I should be just fine. Going to start having 'pots' for different things etc and start being better with money-the alternative is going overdrawn
* vowed to start cooking up snacks for our son which can be frozen (banana muffins/pancakes etc)-I was really good but since returning to work I've got lazy and started buying bits like that.
*local council are asking for canvassers so husband and I have applied to do it. Our friends did 3 rounds and got about £800 for it-thinking it all helps.
*Booked our holiday for the year-sun holiday to Suffolk in October-a lot cheaper than holidays we've had beforeCredit cards: April 2009-£1800, 1 March 2010-£0 :j
