I'm logging my electric / gas usage again, which really seems to make us switch the TV off more. We've got it to 6 units yesterday and the day before for electricity which is brill for 8 of us.

Continuing to meal plan and food shop when we really need it in order to keep as much funds in the bank as possible. It's really making us think about spending and is working for us at the moment.

Made extra dinner portions so Mr Blue can take them to work for his lunch.

Pegging the washing out - horray for sunny weather!

Not buy a new lipstick even though I want one / need one as I've run out of my usual :( - I'm using one I picked up but was less keen on.

I've just bought my own hair colour ( on offer ) - I've only ever coloured my own hair once when I was 16 I've had it done in a salon ever since. savings £££ over the year. Wish me luck!

Returning a brake disc we've not got around to fitting, we're in the process of selling the car to a dealer so it can be returned = £40 refund.

Made a list to weigh in the old brake disc, 2 bikes and other bits next week.

Unlikely to make a decent OP this month (car tax month) so concentrating on making bits and bobs:

I signed up to Nectar adpoints tonight. All being well, it is worth about a fiver a month. Will save them for Christmas shopping in Sainsburys.

Got my first £3 luncheon voucher from P***cone. Can hopefully spend it in Sainsburys or Iceland. Another on the way.

Cashed in swagbucks for a £5 Amazon voucher.

Cheapo hairdo for me - £4.50 for a box of colour and a quick trim by DD.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

*sings* Gallygirl and Martin sitting in a tree...lol

That cheered me up GG. Just off the phone to my energy supplier who is playing silly beggars with my direct debit. In pre-MSE days, I wouldn't even have noticed. Nowadays, I know where every penny is :)

So it's been a bad week as we've been away for a few days but on the plus side:

I made £10 from selling ebay items

We're due to get £15 in vouchers from a sports shop as they sent completely wrong thing to us-something that was meant to be my husbands birthday present. So that's something for nothing I guess...

Am back at work from maternity leave so planning on upping the overpayment by £100-just got to make that phone call I've been avoiding

Little question-does anyone know how long it takes to find out whether you're entitled to a tax rebate? I sent off the forms about a month-6 weeks ago now and haven't heard anything. I guess they have a big backlog but not sure when I should find out....

    • Started making extra dinner portions so Mr Blue can take them for his work dinners
    • pegged out 2 lots of washing to dry as it's VERY windy here today
    • Sold an item off ebay that someone didn't collect, I then offered a second chance offer and the new buyer said yes and was happy to purchase off ebay saving £6 in fees. :j ... also made £2.22 as the buyer didn't want the change. :D
    • Made a cake and biscuits instead of buying
    • Bought cooking bacon and cut it up, sectioned it off and froze, theirs some fab pieces which will be good for stews, pasta dishes etc - saved about £4 as now there's no need to buy pancetta. :money:
    • Bought 5 cushions from Laura Ashley's sale and used gift vouchers that I got from a price complaint. total price I had to pay - £2 :D It was worth the moan.
    • Sold a double pram that I hardly use - £300, sold it outside of ebay saving ALOT in fees

    Alchemilla :)

    From moi :
    • We've stopped using baby wipes to wipe the childrens mouths and have been using a flannel instead, I think we used more on mouths than we do bums! :)
    • I Put the washing out to dry on a maiden in the garden as it looked like it was going to rain - saved using the dryer
    • I've meal planned into August, trying new recipes. I'm trying to use more chickpeas even though it doesn't come naturally to me to use them
    • We've set a budget of £350 this month for food from the 20th to the 20th for 8 of us and I have £8.42 left of it. I'm determined not to go over this amount. It's a challenge and I'm enjoying it tbh.
    • I finally added our mobile phone details to the hally fax site for the mobile phone insurance we get with the ultimate reward account... it's only taken me 6 months to do ! :o
    • Made a batch of "instant porridge" for the older children as they wanted the instant sachets. I've weighed bags out and added milk powder to them so it *should* just be a case of adding water and flavouring. ..we'll see how that one goes. :)
