    * Gave the inside of my car a really good clean last night - it was really bad. So bad that there was a self-sustaining bio-system in the passenger footwell. I can't really consider it a money saving as I don't usually pay to have it valeted anyway, but because I did it for the first time in 18 months I feel the need to brag.

    * Free lunch and charging mobile at work

    * Was recently reading about the rising popularity of Sudocrem as a cheapo beauty product. It's not something I've ever used before either on my skin or anyone elses! I think I paid about £2.50 for a small tub. (A much larger size is £3.50 ish but was OOS). It smells quite nice and I find it very soothing. I get quite bad 'flare-up's' on my face - last night for example I was driven to distraction by itchy stingyness with lumps errupting all over the freaking place, one of which was in danger of paralysing my chin, I put a little sudocrem on, skin felt instantly soothed and this morning, all but the very worst of it had gone. It's not a miracle cure but given some of the expensive and harsh carp I've put on my skin in the past in sheer desperation - I think I've found a new friend :)

*Activated nectar points offers on my smart phone before I went shopping in Sainsburys - 300 points for some Smoked Mackerel plus 120 bonus points ;)

*Someone had left a voucher in the trolley for 0.83p so used that.....you snooze you loose. I've even started picking up bits of paper in supermarket car parks just incase....how bad is that? I can't help myself!

*Sainsburys petrol is 2p cheaper than the Tescos station I pass every day so whilst I was there I bothered to top up, even though I was only a 1/4 tank down, was dying for my dinner and needed a wee :D

*Remembered to alter my pinwheel timers so that my lights aren't coming on too early after the clocks went forward

*YouGov survey and sent my sis another referral link which she promises to use this time

*Checked my Halifax Clarity card online and I am now in a new statement period so can recommence spending on it again to get the Cashback (when I reach the minimum spend I revert to Tesco Credit card)

**By the way there is a great thread by Kazza in which he kindly lists all the ISA deals (see post 1) I've found it invaluable for researching ISA's in the past and maximising interest on my savings - new ISA year quickly approaches so there is a lot of activity on the interest rate front:-

    Hello everyone, :j

newbie on this thread...[STRIKE]kicked up the [/STRIKE] motivated by Curlygirl... now let me see...what have I done so far today...Starting from the top...

Don't switch on lights as is semi light when get up at 6am
Boiled kettle for hot water (don't use boiler as too expensive)
Hm muesli (much cheaper & nicer than shop bought)
Showered before 7am on cheaper electricity tariff

Not so good, my car sharer can't car share any more this week, but still, one less journey is better than none this week.

Work - hm soup & bread for lunch. Also left over fruit & sandwiches appeared on the dept after a meeting - so snaffled an orange, apple & banana to add to my lunches for the rest of the week.

Exercise - walked about a mile in the sunshine at lunchtime - gave up gym fees last year. I bring my trainers and stride as fast as I can.

Tonight - double up journey on way home - library (never buy books), and garage for diesel (I have a smaller, more economical car now). Hm gnochhi pasta bake reheated in microwave for dinner & sit in the dark if just watching TV. Sounds sad, but OBVIOUSLY, I do use the electric if I actually want to see anything..(though the fact that my neighbours think I don't ever put my lights on is just a vicious rumour :rotfl:)

Not bad for starters. Hoping to read some of your posts later (if not all of them...)

    LB xx

Welcome LB!!! :j Great to see you here and what a fabulous list you've started off with.

I'm on autopilot in the mornings - but yes, you've made a good point about the lights, so cheers.

    Today:-
    * Another YouGov survey - thought I was going to loose the will to live though. Anyone else done the Olympic one?
    * Read in another thread about measuring out, rather than pouring, bubble bath. So am going to do that tonight. (A capful rather than a pint jug ;))
    * Charging phone at work
    * MPG is looking good past couple of days :D - made a big effort to keep it down....no, up.
    * Freezer surprise for dinner tonight
    * Must remember to read meters and submit tonight

I know these are all pennies - but pennies make pounds.

    * Just another thought as the weather is warmer - in the shower how about turning it off whilst you soap-up? Am going to try this one out next time I shower. Not on a water meter but leccy will be saved?

    * I need to think about Postage Stamps - they are going up shortly by quite a lot. Am considering writing out birthday cards for rest of year and posting all before price rises with a little note to explain I'm a tight-wad. Or I could just buy a book of 1st (the ones with no price on) as these are still valid as 1st even after price increases.

I've just read that superdrug have a 5% discount on all first class stamps (from an employee on the Superdrug 10p thread) until 10th April, which will all be valid after the increase. I hope this helps.

Ooh - thanks for that - DS1 has loads of the stuff (and the magna man sets) - will need to check it, as some he's had for quite a while (Sent DD's polly pockets back a few weeks ago - received £40 in TRU vouchers)

More of a round up for this week, rather than just today:

packed lunches for those at school/ work (unless fed for free, like DH has been today :D)
topcashback for 2 online purchases (and shopped around for best deals first)
unwanted stuff sold on ebay (and money OPd straight away)
    no food wasted / thrown
veg peelings in compost (savig money for the garden)
    chitting potatoes
free deodorant sample came in post
took drinks and picnic on day out
got national trust membership (through tcb and with discount for DD) - used once already. Will need to use only once more (to somewhere we really want to go which is quite local) and we'll have made our money back so any other uses are a bonus
used tesco clubcard vouchers to get cineworld tickets
joined fiscal fast thread - really making me think about spending at all
homemade goodies for meeting tomorrow - normally I'd buy in some treats
some unwanted clothes (not really ebay-able) put aside for cash for clothes - gradually builds up to enough to sell a couple of times a year.
claiming my expenses - which as I've spent teh money at least a month ago will go direct as an OP when I receive them
money moved around to ensure no int paid on ccs/ od not used
birthday card from stash used, rather than buying yet another one (the price of cards is often :eek:)

Nothing terrifically exciting, but it all adds up and the majority of it is a way of life now, rather than an effort to do. Must get back into surveys... although I find they yield little for quite a lot of time (which I'm short of at the moment) :D
I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul
    Repaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NIL
    Net sales 2024: £20
