This weekend:
* paid attention to petrol prices and fueled up at the cheapest places possible (made a looong motorway journey to a wedding and did as few motorway refuels as possible)
* bought drinks at local garage instead of motorway garages
* decluttered car, checked fluids and tyre pressure etc
* wore clothes we already owned instead of buying new
* drank soft drinks only and didn't buy lotsDebt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Yesterday-
Re-used my failed fudge (inappropriately sized pan- let's just say I needed to clean the hob afterwards) by making gingerbread biscuits and ginger stout cake with it. A biscuit has come with me to work to save me from the temptation of the coffee shop
. I also have individual coffee filters on hand to fuel my coffee habit ( I don't like the stuff out of the machines at work and the coffee shop costs mount up).
Today- changed my mobile tariff from bog-standard PAYG to one with free texts and minutes. I estimate this will save me £13 a month. Why did that take me so long?
Know what you mean about motorway petrol prices katsu- I find that prices are way lower in a largish town (more competition I guess)Sealed pot challenger#1677

Evening everyone!
This week I have:
Completed and received a £3 PC voucher
Got about 1000 maximiles points
Received my SSM Pantene kit, saving about £5 on shampoo, conditioner and split end serum
Saved £1.50 on a funky pigeon Christmas Card for DH, he loves Me to you and it was much cheaper than in the card shops and got him to order mine so he saved too.
Checked for an online discount code before ordering online, saving £4.75
So not huge savings but every little helps. We are still not having the heating on of an evening to save money as we use the woodburner and free wood.
Total OP since 1 October is nearly £850 which I am quite pleased about but I am trying to only OP money that we have earnt in additon to wages or saved on stuff that we would have bought. We have a lot of DIY to do in the house with our wages and DH might not be too supportive if I tried to get £50 cash as opposed to an old phone which he doesnt use which he is happy to donate!
Happy frugal weekend everyone!Debt Free - done

Previously I bought a packet of dried pasta and sauce from Herr A - put in my drawer at work and had today for lunch instead of going out. Have to love drawer food!
I tried to get shell petrol to use my Waitrose coupon - but the garage was closed so I had to come home on the orange lightDebt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

DH took the remainder of last nights dinner to work for his lunch.
Cupboards bare but rather than popping out for something for lunch, ate a yogurt, a granola bar and some cereal.
Needed cherry tomatoes for tonight's dinner and some more potatoes but made do with what was left at the bottom of the fridge to avoid a visit to Mr S.
Cancelled dinner out with a friend tonight, will have a cheaper lunch date together next week instead.
Craved takeaway tonight for a late supper despite having had a yummy dinner, ate cereal instead..... Still have the takeaway craving, but at least it has been postponed.0 -
added up all the £'s I've earned throughout the year by doing surveys, then did most of my Christmas shopping on line while the site I used is giving 3 Nectar points per £ spent, instead of the usual one point.
Reduced last years contents ins bill from £102 to £68, and earned £12 cashback by using a comparison site
Bought 3 packs of prawns reduced to 19p a pack as it's their last day, and made a sparrer-style paella with them
Mended my loo seat with super glue where a piece of metal had sheared in half, saving me having to spend £25+ for a new one0
