    Today I have:

Completed £1 mypanelbase survey, earnt 100 maximiles. I also received a small Dove bodywash sample. Every little helps as they same.
DH and I are also debating whether to take some money out of our premium bonds as we never seem to get more than £25 a month. Decisons decisions.

Last night I went shopping and got free small packet of Walkers, free large bag and the hovis part bakes, shame I spent £14 though

Decided to work at home today because I had a horrific week work wise when I was sent with less than 24 hours notice to Germany, and it doesn't seem to matter what I do- it always seemed wrong Wrong WRONG.

So I decided that getting up at 5:30am and going into an office where my company as one of the customer's partners has NO desks assigned, seemed to be a bit... of a waste of time!

I went into town at lunch time and paid in money into my treat allowance.
AND I got change to pay for the parking tonight which should be about £3-4 compared with £10-11 for a cab home and an hour's travel from Journo school where I am often only home at 10:30/11pm and cream-crackered the next day.

I am not sure I can get away with it all the time, but it makes a difference because otherwise I have no option but to take money out of my buffer account to pay for 2 cabs a week.
Any week I don't have to dip into that means that that it's more dosh that could potentially swell the porky sides of my Virtual mortgage piggy.

  • * For the past 7 weeks I've been using 'Spend £20 and get £4 off' Sainsburys vouchers. After years of getting 'Spend £30 or £40...' from Tescos....they've finally caught on that a single person rarely spends this much in a week (or perhaps it's because I've been paying for my Sainsburys shops on my Tesco Credit Card) and they have sent me same - beautifully timed to start off where Sainsburys have finished

    * So last Sainsburys shop this Wednesday using mysupermarket.com to plan a precise shop. Will also get my petrol whilst I'm there. It's not somewhere I pass but the petrol is always 2p cheaper than the Tescos that I do pass.

    * Got notification that I can expect a payment from Quidco on 15th which is mainly for some small bits plus £70 from NPower :T This amount has been added to next months OP.

    * Done a couple of YouGov surveys in last 48 hours and now upto 3575....very pleased with that

    * Charging mobile at work

    * Bought next years diary from Waterstones (I have a weak spot for getting a really nice pocket diary every year) - used the remaining value of a giftcard and some loyalty points and paid £1.02 for it

    * Not my own effort - but found out that my Tesco Diet subscription has been reduced from £14.95 to £9.90 pm. Lovely price crunch  Sadly I still need the diet plan :o

    * Moved money around so that not only would I get 2 x £5 in my Halifax Reward accounts next month but also both my sisters would also (they don't earn over £1k).....keep it all in the family ;)

    * Moved money around after pay day to ensure all accounts are funded as they need to be and that my Santander 5% Current Account is topped up to its max.

    * Using Nectar search to earn points

    * Anyone have a smart phone? - make sure you download the Nectar app for further offers. I've got points on spend thresholds and various products like Apples, fish etc. .... Obviously things I was going to buy anyway. Have now got £32.42 worth of Nectar points. Lovely jubbley!

    * Read my meters and submitted via phone. Try to do this every month now.....dead easy so no excuse

    * Eating from freezer every night this week

  • A few days ago, MOM's car breakdown cover was due for renewal, which was v. expensive, so we rang up and told them we were leaving and they immediately took off £70 from the annual cost back to a normal cost. Great for a 5 minute phone call.

I've got an app that allows me to submit a meter reading - very handy and quick

Also if you have a Quidco account they've got an app that allows you to see your balance and also shows you Instore 'check-ins' ie. 20p for walking in O2 shop etc. I have a look to see what it's offering everytime I go to a shopping centre.

I've not used Music Magpie yet, but they have an app that allows you to scan your CD bar codes using the camera on your phone and tells you immediately what it's worth and compiles a list for you.

There are loads of others that are handy or provide quick links to mobile versions of their websites - Aldi, mysupermarket, Groupon. I have an iPhone so not sure what is available for other smart phones but it is certainly a growing maket
