* decided not to go out for NYE - very MSE
* bought a cheap sim free phone from Mr T - £9.97! so I can get my personal mobile working again (already charged and on) and cut my costs with a sim only deal instead of getting a "free" phone but getting tied into a contract.Debt at highest: £8k. * We are staying in also but have just had a takeaway instead of going to the restaurant and having a £22 per head set meal
* I was lucky enough to get an iPad for Xmasand as I won't be charging it at work I've researched ways of conserving the battery (ie adjusting the brightness, switching to airplane mode when not using Internet etc)
* Downloaded the free Kindle app to my iPad and then, thanks to MSE found some free books to download also
* Found my nieces birthday present in B&M for 9.99 instead of 20.00 on Amazon
* Bought my sisters birthday present, a half price fragrance gift set, in the sales - very pleased with that and she will be too
* Bought some whoopsie meat for freezer from Tescos earlier

Hi All
Not much today; Just was given 3 boxes of free range eggs from my brothers chickens. It's not the despair, Laura. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand. ~ Brian Stimpson, Clockwise0 -
Happy new year everyone
, I love to read all your posts.
I havent posted in a while but still feel as determined as ever .
I Spent a bit this week in the sales , but all on "needs" and not "wants" . Everything was in the sales and it sorted out shoes for the 4 of us, birthdays pressies/mothers day/fathers day/ and some pressies for next xmas . Have spent £150 on all this.
Then checked my quidco account this morning and they have paid £116 into my bank this morning.
Just done a shop on approved foods £61 down to £18 & free delivery. Plan to do some baking today & surveys. Also going to write out a meal plan to use up lots of freezer stuff, we have so much food I think my food shop will be low for the next 3 months.
Car mot in two weeks time , have saved the money ready for this but just hope its not too much.
We intend to pay £3000 off the mortgage in 4 weeks time and I cant believe after 8 years over paying we are near the finishing line.
I dont feel we have missed out on much, just done everything on the cheap -camping holidays, own hair cuts , charity shops, coupons, bargain shopping, surveys, make do and mend.Kindness costs nothing0 -
Happy New Year everyone!
My small things include -
* spending new year with relatives so no shopping to do.
* went to local pub last night and had budgeted £40 but only spent £20
* moved money to Halifax reward acct to get £5.
* redeemed £5.60 from new vista surveys on TCB (good job as i've whacked a lump sum into my Halifax Websaver to get it to £4k and left myself with just less than £200 for the month lol. Should be ok tho as i don't have much planned in the next few weeks.)
* have made £20 in Amazon vouchers from Swagbucks over the past month. Am squirrelling them away in my Amazon account as am saving up for a surround sound home cinema system.
* anticipating a cheque from Myshoppingrewards for about £30 on 3rd Jan.
Resolutions for new year are to power walk to work to burn off excess December weight and to get my food shopping from Aldi more often. I buy a lot o basics range food anyway but i think the quality may be a bit better at Aldi and for the same price.#39 - Save £12k in 20250 -

* received my amazon payment so another £2.50 into the pot.
* got an OK deal by negotiating with my mobile phone company - saves me getting any more credit checks done so will stick with them for six months and then re-review the situation. I say "OK" - I am saving £39.50 a month
* used 2 innocent MOCs so got 3 bottles of innocent juice for £2  which make a nice treat with sparkling waterDebt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
