I've applied for JSA online to get the ball rolling and made brekkie before we go out (away to a wedding this weekend).
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.
  • Yesterday I sent 3 birthday cards using unfranked stamps I had saved since Christmas.

I also served HM pizza to a friend for lunch rather than buy one.

Today I've taken DD (aged 3 & half) to the cinema for the first time at £1 per ticket. She was desperate for popcorn and it cost £4.10 for a bag

We only lasted 15 minutes in the film as DD was crying to go home as it was too loud and scary. But I've kept the popcorn bag so if we go again (not likely in the near future!) I can just replenish it with Butterkist bought at the supermarket.

I'd like to be able to make HM popcorn, but it never has the cinema taste.
  • I saved yesterday by popping into the charity shop because I needed some knitting needles and was pretty sure that they had a few in there - they are really expensive in the knitting shop. I got 5 pairs of knitting needles, three books that I had been wanting to read, a new recorder instruction book (GD has just started learning) and a baby knitting pattern for £2.10. Thus saving a couple of pounds just on one pair of knitting needles which I would have had to buy anyway and making all the other stuff effectively free!:D

    :jYay!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • Today I haven't had a Saturday lunchtime burger.

I've listed some more books on green metropolis and I'm going to list some items on eBay later.
  • Hello everyone, here's today's savings:
    1. did a survey the other day, and not only did I earn points they also sent me a free box of cereal to trial - it is a 'chocolate' flavour one, way to sweet for me but DS loved it ;)
    2. received a free moam chew sweet in the post for something I must have sent off for! It was tiny but again DS loved it
    3. freezers are all packed, so this week's shopping at Mr T's was only £33 from our grocery budget with approx £4 discounts off. This included a small bottle of whiskey as a well deserved treat for my DH (see point 4)
    4. DH has just completed week 3 of no smoking :T We used to spend approx £25 per week on tobacco and now just buy inhalators. Saved £17.50 this week, transferred to the ISA for xmas savings
    5. My stepson's birthday tomorrow - he is with us this wkend, so am treating him (and us!) to D0mino's p1zzas - we have loads of buy 1 get 1 free vouchers and this works out really well for all 4 of us
    6. DH was paid yesterday and did get bonus, so £414 put away in our rainy day account
    7. for lunch had a pasta salad which was part of DH's free meal allowance, which I seem to be benefiting a lot from lately :rotfl:
    8. nothing on Toluna today so far, but have 21 'open' surveys waiting for points. Nothing on onepoll either - up to £16.30 since beginning of this year. Did a VO survey for £1 :). Will keep checking for more later on...
    9. confession time - just realised the heating is still on  forgot to turn it off earlier
Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

    Hi all,

All quiet here but here's a few moneysaving things I've done today :

Cut 2 of my lads hair myself saving £12 ish ( I always do this so I don't really think of it as a saving any more but it is!)
Got £2.10 on New Vista on tcb
Done a few surveys on Toluna (68k Cmon! )
Now going to make some cheap and cheerful chocolate cornflake cakes
Staying in later and watching a film on sky and sharing a bag of minstrels which have been bought on offer

    Have a good weekend all

I have had quite a few NSDs this week because I've been taking my lunch into work. Today was a complete cop out, though - I made the mistake of going into a charity shop and bought 7 books. It only cost £13 for the 7, but I really, really don't need more books!

Not exactly MS, but I've just pruned my roses and filled up one of my strawberry bags. They are meant to hang up, but the handle broke! They must expect you to use peat based compost, which is lighter than the soil based compost I use. Grrr. However the bag will still be useful as it stands up nicely. I hope the strawberry suckers thrive.

I also used up my first milk bottles of rain water to water in the strawb suckers and clean my compost scoop!!! That's 5l of water saved, lol. Probably worth about a hapenny!
