  • - Walked my daughter to school and back for most of the past 2 weeks (saving on diesel)

    - Bought the kids Xmas presents whilst there was an offer on at Argos, saved £90 :money:

    - Been eating mainly what's in the freezer for tea instead of going out buying again

    - took my own lunch to bingo yesterday instead of buying it there
  • Not posted in ages. Here are the little bits that I've been up to, trying to make a difference, even whilst on hols:-

    1) Went on holiday to US (all booked via Quidco and also got Nectar points). Before I went I registered with some food chains (eg Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday, Outback) in the hope that I would get some offers and Ruby Tuesday came back good :D with a BOGOF offer on main courses. (The others also sent offers but not at the right time - so it's worth doing)

    2) Picked up every leaflet going on holiday and scoured them for vouchers and coupons on attractions - got money off Intrepid, Top of the Rock and also $5 off Toys R Us. Also found other coupons but didn't use them - so again this is worth doing.

    3) Made sure I packed light and bought some Childrens Xmas pressies whilst on holiday - whilst everything else seems to have gone up in the states, Disney items still seem cheaper than in UK

    4) Took own drinks to Broadway show - it seems perfectly acceptable thing to do there so didn't have to smuggle it in like we do in UK ;). Saved $7 per soda.

    5) I must admit that I was quite frugal with myself on hols - I kept seeing things that I really wanted but I just kept walking away! I saw an offer for the perfume I use at $30! So bought that and that only.

    6) All foreign currency items paid for on Halifax Clarity Card - £5 reward earned and excellent conversion rates. Card already paid off in full.

    7) Spent an hour doing Nectar searches - I now have £30 in Nectar points which am saving for Christmas presents.

    8) Now have £40 in Tesco clubcard vouchers which I will save until Feb when my Car Breakdown is due.

    9) Kept up with my YouGov surveys - now have 3050 points

    10) When I got back from holiday wrote a couple of reviews via Quidco and earned £3

    11) Received some 'Spend £20 and get £4 off' vouchers from Sainsburys so am using those - firstly checking on mysupermarket.com that Sainsburys is not more than £4 more expensive than anywhere else for the same shopping basket

    12) Full review of where my savings are, moved funds around to get best return

    13) Continued to OP every month - budget amount, Quidco earnings, Halifax Rewards etc

    14) Heating remains off. Not sure how much longer I will last - house is old and draughty and I don't take the cold very well! But have lasted longer than most people I know.

    15) Charging mobile at work

    Confessions:-

    1) Totally forgot to cancel my Audiobook account after the 14 days trial (well I was two hours late actually) so incurred £7.99 but I've got two Audiobooks and to be honest I really do like them

    2) Signed up to Tesco Diets a couple of months ago. £14.95 a month. But strict daily monitoring and reporting of intake is the only thing that works for me. It's working slowly and at the moment I feel its worth the money. £20 cash back earned :o Will review and see what other deals are around and swap to something new.

    3) Forgot to pick up my flight socks on the morning of my hol and had to spend £13.49 on another pair at the airport - was VERY ANNOYED
