  • Just switched my car insurance. New quote only £10 cheaper but I get £30 for using cashback website so £40 in total heading for the mortgage op.
Pretty good as I very nearly left it where it was. The renewal with my current provider came in slightly cheaper than last year which I was so not expecting !
  • Today:
Got given a belated Christmas present and I'm earmarking to take a small amount off the mortgage - only a tenner but if I put in a tenner a day, it would make a HUGE difference. Great thread though :)
i started with a tenner a month and now up to 2k so it all counts
  • this week

hairdresser cancelled so i`ve postponed new appointment for a month,
was adament no heating on til november but cold even with jumper so heating on for half an hour max
also monitor last years leccy and gas costs and aim to be less this year
    take packed lunch
    take up free offers

on a longer term basis be aware of goods you know you need to buy before you need them,eg purchased a box of brand soap powder when i`d only just started a new box because it was really good offelr and i knew if i got it when i needed it,cost would`ve been so much more. hope that makes sense
    well done all;)

    Hi everyone ,
been buying lots of woopsies this week and filled up the freezer with it all , along with free fish from my dad (the fisherman) .

Cut the familys hair (4 people) and phoned up sainsburys helpline
to find out if I had any points on my old sainsburys card ,
    they told me I have £32 :D .

my daughter came home from school today , and said her school trip in a years time is a week in new york and will cost £1000 . So will need to save £20 a week for that :o.

My dog is ill , and I found out we can have her treated for free by the RSPCA because my husband has been on BASIC sick pay for the past 4.5 months, so that was a relief.

But the good news is, my husbands sick note runs out in 4 weeks time and he will hopefully be returning to work so we can re start paying off the mortgage :j. So relieved.
    what`s a whoopsie

    This week for me:

    * had to park in car park (but can claim from work). Used NCP and have card registered with Quidco for Quidco cashback - only pennies but every little helps, as Mr T says
    * got some craft bits on ebay as cheaper than shops and went via TCB
    * joined a library near work (work in a different county) so I have access to more free books :)

    Hi All,

LesleyKD a whoopsie is something that's been reduced in the supermarket because it's near the end of it's shelf life (or damaged etc) - I think the labels in Asda say "whoopsie" on them, hence the name.

    My offerings:
    • £3 Capital bonds vouchers winging their way to me for additional info for food diary.
    • Have been diligently scanning shopping for both companies!
    • Off to do some waitressing shortly, but I'd rather go to bed!
    • 50p survey for VO.
(I think there's more, but whenever I start to post it all flies out of my head!)

    Have a great weekend everyone!:)
    Vicky

  • Thanks pink poppy- I've made courgette cake before (there's a recipe in How to Be a Domestic Goddess) and it is good- however this courgette ended up mixed up with leftover butter bean and chorizo stew and made into the Pie of Doom. The pie sort of worked, but I think I need to cook the veg a bit harder to reduce the water content (soggy bottom syndrome...eep!).

*Claimed all expenses owed from work
*looked into remortgaging if renting out flat (will make MSE decision on this one soon!)

    From me:
    - bought cartridges for work at Tesco and got 500 points extra (they don't mind where I buy them)
    - used a £6 off £60 voucher at Tesco
    - signed up for the Daily Mail Christmas Club and remembered to enter the codes
    - used my free Premier Inn stay when we had to go and see MIL in hospital and took voucher for free drink plus claimed it.
    - this week I will have earned another free night and I think by the start of December I have have earned 5 in total
    - mended mine and DH clothes and took up a hem on a skirt I would otherwise have binned (desperate I know does it count?)
    - used a free £1 credit I had with Hephalump Cards to get DH card for his birthday next month
    - so far resisted spending £82 of 3 Cobb items I really really want. (again desperate)
