What I've been doing recently:-
* Week long conference - food and leccy paid and not the time or shops to buy anything whilst I was there
* Paid for my hotel on Tesco Credit Card and earned £1.34 in points
* Came back from working 15-18 hour days too tired to do anything or go anywhere that would cost any money over the BH weekend :rotfl:
* Shopped around for Car Ins and got something for £52 under renewal - overall it's gone up though  and I've still paid £44 more than last year
* Waiting for Cashback on Insurance to track £28 - keeping eye on that
* Paid for Car Ins on Halifax Clarity Card so I've spent my £300+ in one foul swoop to earn the next £5 reward. Rest of months spending will be on Tesco Card
* Had some work done by Plumber - cost a little less than I thought it might / had saved up for
* Automatic OP went out yesterday and scrapping together another £50 to OP over the counter on Saturday
* Changing one of my Current Accounts to Santander via Quidco to hopefully get £155 in cashback
* Charging Phone at work
* Had bought some food for Sarnies over the weekend for me & BF's lunches (Bread, ham, salad). Used the left overs to make the past 3 nights tea. Am sure you will understand when I tell you that I've thrown away the last bit of ham because I really couldn't face eating it for a 4th night!
* Free Brekkie & Lunch today
* Freezer surprise for tea tonight
* Was given a 5p off voucher for petrol and I didn't even have to spend the £50 to get it in the first place!
* Using Nectar Search bar to earn this months 50 points
* Have done some YouGov surveys
On the downside:-
*MPG - must try harder
* I had to buy some clothes before the conference (some from outlet store, some using a Next voucher) as I'd not miraculously lost weight and as a representative of the conference host I needed to look the part and feel comfortable - however I didn't wear a couple of items so am taking them back this weekend. I'll get plenty of wear from the items I've worn/am keeping
* Bought a book at the airport(I did notice however that they'd overcharged me by £1 and went back to get it). Didn't even get time to read it so may give it as a pressie
* Couldn't bring myself to use the Hotel toiletries - they smelt VILE0 -
So far this week..
- updated all surveys - none ready for pay out yet though:(
- swapped to Sky line rental - first 3 months free £25!
- Eon reduced elec/gas DD from £70 to £56 for the summer
- installed Nectar search bar
- have to go to town tomorrow to have glasses sorted so will go in the cheap greengrocers for fruit for OH - 69p for blueberries instead of £1.99
- will make a meal plan so don't have to shop for much
Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Sorted DH's car ins. Renewal was £500. Crazy money for a 43 yr old man driving a "sensible" car ! Anyway, found same policy on a comparison site for £400 with £25 cashback, rang up his current insurer, and they matched the £375 ! Great, but its still £85 more than last year. Its already been budgeted for in my "annual bills" account so we have stooged it on our 0% credit card.
Cancelled RAC policy and took out £38 Auto Aid instead.
Free eggs from chucks at work.
Left over tuna pasta bake for lunch - not really looking forward to this though as its already done Wed & Thursdays tea.
Tonights tea is freezer surprise as I missed the weekly shopping trip last weekend cos we went away in the caravan.
Got up a bit earlier to put washing out on line before work.0 -
TK - re car ins - I feel your pain! I'm 39, max NCD, no convictions, my little 2006 fiesta is locked up at night and the cheapest I could get was £422 (fingers crossed for £28 CB)
I always thought that if you added an extra driver to a policy then it added cost - not so. Following Martins guide on Car Ins., I added my BF and most quotes were dropping by around £60. So perhaps this is a tip for some people - find someone thats in the right age bracket (my BF is 47), with good NCD and no convictions and add them to the policy and see how it affects the quote. They don't always have to live with you or be related.0 -

We are already both named drivers on each others policies, both over 40, and both have full NCD. I knew car ins had gone up but didnt realise it would be this much. Dreading my renewal now, as I said before, DH is the one with the sensible car - Ive got the big gas guzzler 4x4 :eek:0 -

I agree it does work sometimes, about 7 years ago it was cheaper to leave me (a 21 year old female who'd had a license for 4 years) on my mum's policy as a named driver than take me off when I got my own car. It was because my 19 year old brother was on there too and I think because I was insured on it it spreads the risk further.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I need to get back into the habit of popping in here daily with what i have done.
- DH received his £50 YG cheque, but i couldn't pay it in as i needed to wait in for a parcel.
- DH came in today with 16 x 375g boxes of toffee and pecan dorset cereals, which were free as they were left behind after a gig his company did the other day. Not even one he worked at, but the guys working it brought him some.
- Free box of 20 wash (nearly 2kg) brand named washing powder to use for a survey - that should last me most of the month as i never use as much as you should. Would have cost £6.40 to buy.
- Needed to go food shopping yesterday, but instead made a batch of bread buns and scones, and dug up some lettuces from the garden to keep the hungry boys going.
- planted more lettuce out, though now need to start more off, and plant purple broccoli out for next spring.
- Been doing so many surveys i have lost count, after i was challenged to make £2.50 a day by the thrifty gifty girls. It is more like £6-7 per day for me.
- I've also been paid £60 for the shopping guides i wrote a few weeks back, so very happy there.
- Op - has been great recently, £1.90 today. I've also complained again about referral bonuses not being paid to me, and they were going to look into it for me, so my £32 should become at least £34, and i might reach payout again this month.
