£7 from a survey through Consumer Intelligence that I had even forgotten I had completed! Although it is a prize draw rather than guaranteed payment for every survey, the incentive is always greater and the surveys are always very quick to complete.

You can also submit ideas for their weekly poll and you win £20/£25, and a blog or news articles or feedback earns between £5-25 too!

They also do some mystery shops (normally for insurance that you would compare prices for anyway, and can get £20-£50 for that too!)

Link below in case any of you are interested in signing up! :)

I have a Q for those people who OP small amounts often -

Do your lenders mind small, regular OP's of a few quid here and there ? How do you make them? DD or paying in branch?

My fixed rate finishes today (woop) and I can make unlimited OP's. I was wondering if anyone has encountered any probs with you going in branch with a handful of change or the odd quid here and there. Am a firm believer in all the little things adding up and quite like the idea of popping in at the end of the week or month (or by DD) with leftover money to put towards the mortgage.

Am used to going into my bank with money bags to pay into savings but not sure what my mortgage lender would think if I went in with the contents of my money box :rotfl:

What do other people do ?

Well today I have been to Leek, Staffordshire in a strop and handed over the cheque that Britannia sent back to me in error.

    Full story below

    "Afternoon All

Well today was supposed to be MF day. The direct debit came out as arranged this morning. And then the postman came

Instead of a letter confirming the mortgage was paid off, I received my cheque from last week and a letter stating they could not accept it because it would pay off my mortgage and trigger a deeds release fee
That was the whole point of sending a cheque in the first place - to pay off the mortgage.

After a swift phone call in which the B/S said they had tried to phone me to see if I wanted to redeem the mortgage but got no answer they decided to return the cheque.

    I was so angry

Anyway whilst using the bathroom this morning I had a brainwave does it sound better than sat on the loo

I decided I would go to Leek which is where the Britannia's Head Office is and see the B/S rep and give them my cheque in person. So off I went to Leek with poor Mr MOOC driving me. I handed my cheque over and today as arranged I am now MF

I hope you can understand my ramblings

    MOOC xx"

Well done mummyofonechild brilliant idea to go there in person I would have done extactly the same thing. How are you going to celebrate?

Linz I have never taken cash into a branch jsut made my payments online and I often rounded it up once interest had been charged.

Not that much moneysaving here, been out since 6am got home at 6pm and had to do a bit of work as well. Now cooking dinner with spuds, lettuce and strawberries from the garden.

    NSD as working all day.

    Thanks TallGirl

It was 29 miles away so not too far, will probably go out for a meal to celebrate. Then next month start saving for a newish car. The assistant who sent the cheque back was very sheepish when she saw us in person

Three "small things" this week so far.

Saved spending money on biscuits etc by making cake (a big one and some little chocolate buns). Got DS to help with the buns and DD to help with the big cake, so this counts as spending time doing things with kids too! :D

Afternoon out with a friend and all our kids - persuaded her we should go somewhere free instead of spending money. :)

Ordered grocery shopping online - the only way I can stick to a budget. I can put loads of unnecessary stuff in my basket and take it all back out again when I see how much it costs! :o
    Starting again 13/4/19
    Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99
    Total owed: £28,801.49

I needed some invisible thread to take up a pair of white trousers. Online prices varied from £2 to £8 without delivery:eek:. Decided to wait until I went into town and pop into my local, independant craft shop where it was £1.35. The cashier asked for £1.15 and then said it was half price - 68p:j

Booked a hotel for Friday night in Newport as we are going to watch the golf and only spent £34.70. Was £44 with 5% discount but got 15% off my booking direct. At least we know what we are getting plus cheap food and drink that evening.
Used my gym membership as I went to Zumba.

Am going to take back something I bought from Boots last week. It was bought totally on a whim, completely expensive and useless, I didn't need it I just wanted it. So hopefully they'll take it back and I'll get my money back on that.

Am STILL waiting for a refund into my bank of some clothes I returned last week. have received the email saying they've received them and will be refunding me but what with the bank hol there must be a delay. C'mon, I need that cash back!

And I'm also going to collect a free spare pair of contact lenses from the opticians.

Things from me for the week so far.

    * Managed to negotiate another £1k off the house we are buying, making it 9k off the asking price and £1k under the surveyors "what its worth" price :j
    * Made chocolate cornflakes cakes for everyone
    * Made a HM birthday cake for DS3s birthday
    * persueded OH not to take the children to "The Sandcastle" at blackpool ( 45 mins drive away plus entrance fees ) but take on long , muddy bike rides instead
    * Ebayed my butt off raising £70 after fees
    * Managed to peg some washing out even though rain clouds are a daily threat
    * Gave my 22 month old DD a duster to clean - Who needs to pay for cleaners when you have children :D
I can't be bothered updating this anymore
