Not sure Katsu as I've never made a mix before. I presume wrap it in cling film whilst its still a dough mixture - that's what I do with pastry anyway but I'm sure someone else will know for certain.

Welcome Tabitha - It's nice of you to come out of lurkdom. :)
 to the other lurkers out there.

Feeling inspired and with all this talk of soup going about MFW - I've just made a huge batch of HM tomato soup with some tomatoes that really were past their best. Oh the shame if someone saw them. It tastes delish though.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

I feel like I've had quite a good day today:
    • 65p from Onepoll
    • My eBay items ended this afternoon - after fees I got just over £25... Not too bad, there was only one thing that I wish had gone for more and I guess I should have started the price off higher to begin with really!
    • Had dinner at the in laws (yummy roast :D)
    • Got a statement for a Nationwide account that I forgot I had - it's got £8.28, so as soon as I can work out how to get at it it's going in the mortgage account
    • Paid 29p into the mortgage account which was interest on my old savings account (not used any more as it doesn't offset against mortgage)
    • Found out that there's a pay rise at work that I will benefit from for a whole 3 weeks before I leave :rotfl:, but that will mean I get paid around £35 more next month than I thought I would so that will be straight in the mortgage pot.
On a more negative note I didn't manage to take my lunch into work as I had a manic morning washing and drying my hair, fighting with my son trying to get him dressed, getting his things ready for an overnight stay with the in laws tonight and then get him to nursery for the day for when it opens at 7:30. Never mind, overall it was a good day :D

I like the quick surveys as you can always complete those - look at the sponsored ones and also comment on opinion topics and create your own.

  • Ok, so, I promised to come back and tell you a bit about myself and why I’m lurking about here !!
It’s really all about maintaining a lifestyle choice.
Firstly its all about where we live. Mr Kitten and I moved house back in 2005 from a busy, urban, outskirts of the city location, to a beautiful cottage deep in the heart of rural countryside. I was brought up in the country and I was getting quite desperate to return. Peace and quiet, no neighbours, roaring open fire in the winter, bird song, country noises (and smells!), you get the picture !
We made quite a bit on the sale due to house price increases, but paid a premium for the cottage. This is why we now have two mortgages. One is around £35k at 5.78% fixed until 2013, we made a bad decision here just before rates came crashing but luckily its the smaller of the two mortgages. The other is around £70k. This came off a 4.1% fix around 12months ago onto the Nationwide BMR 2.5%. Our payments dropped by £100 so this had become our overpayment – only I have been putting it into the smaller, higher rate account instead. I’m keeping a close eye on rates incase I need to jump to a fix but I’m reluctant to at the moment, especially as part of the mortgage is still fixed.
We don’t have a lot of money spare each month but we don’t have an expensive lifestyle. Holidays are in our 20yr old caravan with the dog, both our cars are old and we don’t even have a flat screen TV yet, but we manage. The budget is cut right to the bone. I meal plan and cook from scratch, do surveys, cut my washing powder with soda crystals, I make my own bread and I monitor gas & eleccy useage, and so on and so on and so on ! All things I have learnt on here which helped me to clear our debt, build a small emergency fund and now start to tackle the mortgage.
Mr Kitten has a decent job. He earns a good wage but nowhere near as much as it should be for the responsibility he has, and I work part time. This is the other lifestyle choice which our MSE ways have allowed us to afford. We don’t have kids (can’t have em but that’s another story). I know some of you will probably think this very self indulgent of me but that’s my choice, that’s why I’m here, and this is how I will continue for as long as I can maintain this way of life.
  • No that thats out of the way, lets get back on track.
    Today I have:

Been to the bank to pay in my pay cheque so as soon as its cleared I can start the monthly juggle.
Also paid in £10 worth of bronze from the whisky bottle to the OP pot.
Loads of surveys on onepoll this morning.
Last nights left over sausage plait for lunch.

    Thats all so far !

  • Hiya Running girl, and nice to see you again Tabitha.

Great day on onepoll. I am over £1 for today, nearly at £32.50 from joining in December.

I've been putting books back on thje 2x 6ft bookshelves after redecorating. DS was unpacking the boxes upstairs. I have been going up and down stairs with arm fulls of books. I am struggling to get them all back on the shelves nicely, so i have thinned them a little again and will do a bit more amazon listing.

Then my app food delivery arrived. 2 massive boxes of stuff. I have been going from the front door to the pantry with that lot. Such hard work. Then collapsing the cardboard boxes to put in the recycling bin.

I should probably do a storecupboard challenge in March with all i have in now. You seriously can't move in the pantry, and i will be the only one who knows where to find everything. The bread mix bags take up a lot of space so i need to break into them and use them.

I am so shattered now, and still have stuff everywhere so i think i need to psyche myself up to continuing with the bookshelves. :o
