  • Well done Mirry!

Thanks all who offered advice re:maximiles. It is now all sorted and I have £20 voucher winging its way to me.

Today I have done little as I was working tonight. Tea was leftovers from a previous meal that I'd frozen, and fruit salad DH made from all the fruit that was on special when he went shopping.
Received an eamail from Hatton Garden Matals who will take a gold cap (ie tooth) and give me lots of dosh (I hope).
    Drove to work really carefully
DH has agreed to a months trial of reducing down to one car once he has bought something newer! I have explained to him how much money it costs us to run 2 cars when realistically we are only both using the cars at the same time (with planning) maybe once a month! And with better planning we could manage those times too!!

Havign spent the last few weeks reading lots of the other forums to pick up hints and tips, it is lovely to come to this one where it is friendly, supportive and non judgemental. Keep it up everyone

    Well done Mirry!

My DH and I have shared a car for about 8 years now. I work nights as well, so the times that we both need it for work are only the few occasions that I am on a course in the day time away from my workplace. The few weeks every year when I have to do days I cycle to work.
It's a bit of a pain sometimes when I want to go somewhere specific in the day time that I can't get the bus to, but with a bit of forward planning DH will get the train to work or I will drop him off. If it's essential, getting the odd taxi is still far cheaper than running 2 cars. Big food shops have to be done in the evening too :(
But, it has saved us an absolute fortune :D.
Some of my friends think I am absolutely crackers when they see me standing at the bus stop when they know I could afford a car and have told me as much, but that's up to them!

HTH, enjoy the good company here

    Hiii!
So I've done a few tiny things over the last few days...
We've had a few cheap nights in
I've checked my banking and all seems fine
Opened a new credit card to get a referal bonus (and one for my sis!)
Posted a review onto ciao (thanks to someone on here for reminding me!) - also got 60p from posting reviews in april - wish I'd done this more!!!
Requested a voucher from DY and rated some reviews of other people :) need to find more things to review now though!
Had some money through from quidco ;)
Tried to send a phone off for recycling its not worth much and it might not get accepted though
Bought a few bits from poundland and homebargains that I knew were cheaper than Tesco

My own approach was to not pay down the mortgage, but to invest instead.

I think I might have ocd or something, this mortgage thing is so addictive, its all I can think about :rotfl:.

Made 2 loafs of bread ,
made up about 80 flap jacks and froze each one in a food bag
so they are ready for pack lunches.
made up 2 big bread puddings , then cut them up and froze them into single portions.

My work phoned and offered me another 1 hour a week locally
(I help the elderly in their homes).

Made up a shopping list for tommorow in tesco.

Dont forget scrimp and save is on tonight, I like watching that.

    going to water plants now.
    Kindness costs nothing :)
