Helloooo, im not usually one for the beginners thread but I need some help!! I am desperately trying to find some round coloured beads with a 1.5 - 2mm hole that I can thread with a 1mm piece of cord, searching and searching ebay but can I find any? can I eck as like
I notice some of you lovely people are threading beads onto cord, could you tell me where you got them from please
I have some of the pandora style beads which are glass and lined with silver. They fit a 3-4mm cord through so that might be too big?0 -

oh and btw, anyone got any jewellery related plans for Christmas? making any pressies, doing any selling etc? I think I will make a few of my pressies, I'd like to sell some but don't know how to start - I'm not pushy enough to keep sticking my wares under my friends noses so I might investigate Etsy/Folksy.:rotfl: Em xx :rotfl:0 -

It's great to find others so close who do the same thing! There's a fab bead shop in kings Heath, don't know if you've tried it?0 -

Nope, I haven't but I have heard about it, so must check it out, thanks! I buy most of my beads on line, but it is nice to actually see them before you buy them. I tend to go to the shop at Earleswood Lakes craft centre.
I only realised yesterday afternoon that there was a bead fair yesterday, near the NEC- missed it!0 -
Hi everyone! I hope this is the right place to ask a quick question instead of making a new thread?
Im making a few button bracelets to donate to our school Christmas fair, I got the idea from pinterest. The only problem is I cant find a knot that will finish them off securely. Ive found that people recommend 'gs hypo cement' but there are lots of different kinds, fo paper, fabric, non specific.. Im not sure which one is a 'flexible' one that is suitable to use on the nylon, as it is stretchy, and recommendations please?
Im using a double length of 0.8mm stretchy nylon, and double threading each button so they lay flat at the side of each other.
When Ive threaded the buttons I have two threads on each end, Ive tried different knots and however I do it, it is possible to eventually pull the knot open (which is likely as they have to be stretched to be put on and off) We are obviously putting a 'not for children under 3' sign up on the stall in case a button comes off for safety, but even so I want to make them to last so they can be worn for a long time.
Should I use a glue over the knot? (ive used a dab from my glue gun, but that does not dry flexible and can just pop off) Ive heard the thread can be melted, but not sure how to do that without catching the buttons?
Any suggestions gratefully received! (My eldest is a scout, and even with his knot knowledge he doesnt have a clue!:rotfl:
EDIT what a coincidence rachyd, I grew up in Sandiacre! Not been there for ages as my mum has come to live near us now, where abouts is it?0 -
Just to add, I have threaded them like this tutorial, but have used nylon eleastic thread, not the thread on the tutorial. It will not have a loop and button fasten, this is just to give you an idea of the way I threaded it, as I am hopeless at trying to upload photos! I have also used a 4mm seed bead between each button instead of a knot.

Use a surgeons knot and glue
if you use a quick drying glue get someone to stretch it for a few minutes whilst you glue, i use these clips from wilkinsons, like bingo board clips only smaller if that makes sense x
