Can I just state guys that Natwest actually only charge £5.00 for the list of charges. I asked them specifically to let me know what they charged. They in turn wroteback and quoted £5.00 as did RBS. Don't give them anymore than they need - we have already done that!!!

I read on one of the threads that people who had contacted Natwest had been told that Natwest do not correspond through email.

I wrote chasing my statements, but 40 days not up yet. Decided to email them also. I got a reply a couple of days later from customer services in Borehamwood, stating they had no records of my application and they would send details within 7 days. I replied with the letter was sent recorded delivery and signed for on the 12th April and they should look into this.

Just goes to show they tell everyone different stories. Always send your items recorded - you can't trust these banks.

Absolutely. I can't stress the importance of this enough. The fact that a recorded delivery has to be signed for (in fact, I think that's what the Post Office calls it now, "signed for") is the only way of proving to the courts, should it come to that, that you have followed the correct procedure, even if the bank hasn't. For the sake of an extra £1 or so on the cost of a letter, it's worth it every time.

The Post Office website has the details here: Post Office Recorded Signed For prices

So that would be £5 per account I assume !? I have some of my statements but of course it is far easier for Natwest to tell me what they owe me ! In fact I would prefer them to tell me how much they owe me rather than trawl through all my statements, has anyone done it this way ?

Its funny that isnt it i posted before saying i received a response by email - seeing as they dont send or receive emails on that address it just seems strange maybe a ghost got in and started typing letters to people! :rotfl:

I agree send everything recorded that way you have proof. Although i have read before that a lady saw a pile of post being put on a natwest counter and the postman didnt even wait or tell her to sign anything - typical that!!

I took all my letters into my local branch and got one of the ladies to sign a piece of paper to say that it had been hand delivered, and that she had taken the letter off me. Sent 1st and 2nd letters heard nothing but filed with mcol and had an offer letter through about a week later. They have acknoledged my claim with mcol and i havn't decided whether to take their offer or not as its in the court stage. They never offered me my interest or court fee:think:and plus the offer was £300ish less than what i was claiming for. I wouldn't personally be emailing or phoning i would just stick to the timescales and just do everything through letters. Remember its us that throws the shots not the banks .We that means all of us will be celebrating soon:beer:

    Hello,

I wrote a letter (used the first template letter from this site) asking for my statements with all my charges on the 15th of February 2007.

I added in a cheque of £10 for the statutory charge and they took this money from my account on the 30th of March 2007, but did not and still have not received my bank statements

What should I do now as it has been well over 2 months, and coming upto 3 months.

NatWest are now stating they have 8 weeks to investigate, I am pressing ahead with court next Tuesday (once 7 days is up). This is only after I phoned to confirm they had received my initial letter, and waiting on hold for ages....

Had already sent follow up letter via recorded delivery so now I wait for Tuesday and Court proceedings to begin.....

Also the NatWest website states they will acknowledge all complaints within a week....think I might point this out to them if they contact me.

Anyone who has waited the 8 weeks for statements etc, contact the information commissioner.

^What would I say to this Information Commissioner? Not sure what to do exactly. My first time in reclaiming bank charges.

For me, it has been 11 weeks since I asked for my statements and have not received anything. They even took the £10 on 30th March.
