    Hi,
not sure what I am doing here..... am totally new to this forum. Interesting though!!!!! I am in a very similar situation to u...... and hey guess what......one of the original charges which has snow balled beyond belief was a bounced dd to A CHILDRENS CHARITY FOR £2. tHEY CHARGED ME £28.00 FOR THE PLEASURE..... MAKES ME SICK!

    I am boiling!!

    But keeping a cool head.

Your story shows just how callous these banks are.
No negotiation, no commitment and little regard for the ordinary people.

Whille I understand why the vast majority of us are merely scraping back some of the life the banks have sapped from us and got little recourse (victory indeed!!) we still have not a ruling on what it actually costs to send out a financially crippling letter. Like many others I have tried to communicate negotiation and address debt, but the greedy ones seem to still try and put us down. Those who would be potential investors but who are thwarted because high investment is short term lucrative woulld cherish a few pennies to put forward to pension schemes but are robbed by bank charges.

What the banks are now faced with is challenge. Challenge from angry people. From people who do worthwhile jobs, contributing jobs and families who have asked the right questions at the right time. Where do our charges go? What impact does this have on our faith of financial institutions. How can they rise to ever demanding expectations of the consumer group? We demand more responsible accountability.
The !!!!!!!s need to be taken to task.

Sorry for sounding like a politicion.

    Cheers
    Leaf

Couldn't have put it better myself!

Unbelievable isn't it? 2 bl**dy quid for a worthy cause! Ruined my life. Sure the papers would have a field day with that little gem! :D

Would you have any idea about the time scale now that I have received a written response offering a settlement? I told them I wanted the money plus extra charges within 14 days.... not sure if I can back that up?????

A secret address? They've got to be kidding  I'd be tempted to let the Financial Ombudsman deal with your claim - wonder if they'd say the same to the FO? :rotfl:

    Pam

I realise now they must mean the Borhamwood address. I have a free day on thursday so will endeavour to chase the letter and find out what desk it is sitting on - their 40 days is up so god help them!

Ive already had an offer letter and sent it back. I called the 0800 number. They fobbed me everytime i called and when they had 2 weeks left i asked the woman realistically did she think an offer was going to be made within the 2 weeks she said she couldnt say as they were so busy so i told her i was going to the FO had a veral offer over the phoe on friday adn letter on saturday.

They do say 10 days for the money to be in the account so they have until friday then im contacting the FO again.

Your lucky apparently my offer was made back in March when i sent my 1st letter however i am still waiting for it in writing and am so annoyed i mean how long does it take to type a letter! Im not hanging about no more as soon as there 14 days is up im going to start my court proceedings. I feel like they are just taking the p*ss now everytime i speak to someone i just get the usual we have 8 weeks to respond so you should have something by the 18th may if not ring back and we'll send a copy letter - NO I DONT THINK SO if you dont send my offer letter by the 17th you'll be going to court you robbing gits!

Im just so annoyed at the way it seems to be pot luck some people claim later and have had money some are still waiting forever to even have any correspondance from the bank - (I have never received 1 letter) if i hadnt have rang the customer number id be non the wiser and wouldnt have known if they actually are dealing with my claim!

Hi, sorry about this, just joined the forums today and would prefer not to trawl through 150 pages to get my answers, so could anyone help with the following ? : Have you used the standard letter on this website for asking Natwest to work out how much they owe you or have you gone through all your statements ? If anyone has used the standard letter on this website have they had a response or do they just send you your statements ? Also does one letter and £10 cover all your accounts or do you have to make a request per account ? Have you opened up a parachute account and switched over all your direct debits etc before trying to get your money back and have Natwest closed your accounts for trying this ?

Thanks in advance ! Sorry for being so lazy !

What i did was go through my statements myself and write down how much they owed me eg the date of the charge, charge amount and reason for it. I presume they just send you your statements but not too sure as for some strange reason i keep all mine!! (must be so when i win the lottery i can go and throw them at my bank manager and tell him to stick his account!) :rotfl:

The £10 is a standard charge for 6 yrs worth of statements for one account if you have more than one your probably best sending another £10 with a separate request.

I didnt set up another account for this reason i already had one. I have claimed before and they havent closed my account as far as im aware they are not doing this. All my dd's are still coming out of the natwest account and if they want to close it they'll have to wait for me to pay back my overdraft!! If your worried it might be safer to do so though just incase.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hello All, thought it was a good time to say thanks to all of those on the forum who have posted helpful and supportive comments.

The offer arrived 7(ish) weeks after my first letter was sent on 13/03, and found myself calling home every morning to see if a letter had arrived, and eventually it came on Saturday 05/05 which was a great birthday present.

I decided not to go ahead with MCOL because I am doing my PostGrad (along with working full time) at the moment and didn't need any additional stress; although the extra £1000 in interest woul've been lovely.

So the reply saying yes please went back yesterday by recorded mail. How long after Natwest recieve the letter have people been receiving the money into their accounts?

A nice £4270 coming my way, time to treat myself to a newer car.

I think it was katie-baby that contacted the FO and it looks like it worked for her reading through earlier posts.

Let me know how you get on as i might be just behind you.

PS when is your 8 weeks up and when did they say you should have your offer letter by? x

Just rang Natwest re my claim, 14 days wasn't up until Friday but thought I'd ring anyway, this was after sending LBA, have been told they've validated my claim and are offering me £1512.00 and should receive offer letter shortly, yes I know it could take weeks but I'll wait for a while anyway.

My query is my original claim was for £1601 without interest, £1863 with interest, when I asked where they'd got this figure from the girl said she didn't know, shall I be cheeky and ask for a breakdown of how this was worked out.

My other point is they have said they will credit this to my account, however I don't use this account anymore except to pay £50.00 per month for the overdraft I'm paying back, I know they can use some of my refund to pay this off and I'm quite happy for them to do so but I want the rest sent to me in a cheque as I have no cheque book or card for this account, when I told the girl she said just to take in some ID, am I within my rights to ask for a cheque.
Paid off so far Natwest overdraft £1900 Kays catalogue £200 Personal Loan £2500 Tax Credit £1300 J D Williams
Still to go Barclaycard £880 Sainsburys CC £38.80 Littlewoods CC £208 Vanquis CC £390 Littlewoods Cat £821.38 Next £75.26

Well you'll never believe it FATWEST do actually respond to emails i have just had a reply back saying my email for additional charges incurred will be passed to the relevant department and they will contact me directly about this!!

So much for that woman saying they dont send or receive emails - i think they all need to get their stories straight!

So people you can email them after all - anything is worth a try x

hi and thanks for your response..
im sorry i thought it was you who contacted FO..

I sent my ist letter 12 th april.. LBA action sen 25th April..no response..
It was the last straw for me y'day on the fone to them and got nowhere.
so i rang FO..they said couldnt do anything yet till 56 days but i did read (and i think your right was katie~baby) who contacted FO before 56 days had elapsed and they helped..
Even if they cant help me at this stage in getting my money back theu were interested on the fone y'day that id had no response whatsoever..so they may see to that at least..

I see you got an email back...I sent them an email on 3rd May adding on more charges that had incurred since my original claim...y'day they said they dont receive emails from customers and their email address was for internel use only

    I KNEW THEY WERE LYING..THATS WHY I CONTACTED FO>>
im glad you got your response.
I told FO what they said re emails and i noted it on my complaint form..
Im gonna wait and see what FO come back and say and then start MCOL..
I was really nervous about court and solicotors letters etc but ive got this far with everybodys help on MSE..

I will keep you informed all the way..
