Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA0 -

Sent letter asking for my charges back on 28th March, posted to my local branch, they received it on 29th and passed it onto head office.
I hadn't heard anything after 14 days but decided to give them a bit more time due to the Easter holiday, rang on Tuesday and was told a letter had been sent out acknowledging my claim on 5th April which I've never received, funny how I get every other letter that's posted to me, I was told my claim is being investigated but could take up to 56 days, not good enough.
I shall be sending my letter before action tomorrow, with the money they are still making by charging extortionate amounts in charges they can afford to employ more staff to deal with their trailers full of claims. Heres hoping I get an offer after that, I'm claiming £1863.Paid off so far Natwest overdraft £1900 Kays catalogue £200 Personal Loan £2500 Tax Credit £1300 J D Williams
Still to go Barclaycard £880 Sainsburys CC £38.80 Littlewoods CC £208 Vanquis CC £390 Littlewoods Cat £821.38 Next £75.260 -

Good for you!
I too phoned them, and was told a letter had been sent to me acknowledging my claim - and I also never received it. And I too was told it could take up to 56 days to send me an offer letter. As soon as the 14 days was up after I saw that they'd signed for my LBA letter, I commenced my MCOL claim.
Good luck with your claim - you'll enjoy seeing the Bank cited as the Defendants on the County Court's 'Notice of Issue' letter, if you decide to take court action :rotfl:

I have not received any correspondence whatsoever after my statements were received. Not even one stating that they have an influx of work etc. I have now just issued with MCOL. I agree with above that it is strange how I receive every other letter from them together with phone calls in the evening and weekend chasing me.0

I have just spoken to Nat West Customer Relations and they have told me that they are in the process of sending me an offer letter for £1,715 (my claim amount minus the interest)!!!!! My first reaction is to jump up and down...however, I was told that due to them being inundated my offer letter could take up to 56 days to be processed. The process was apparently started on the 23rd March so I anticipate hearing something by the 18th May!!
Am I being fobbed off? Has anyone else been told their letter was being processed and then heard nothing?
I would really love to believe that it is this easy but having read other posts I am not convinced!!!!0 -

Hiya - this is a fairly typical response from the Bank. The first couple of times I phoned, I was told I should get an offer within the week, then the last time I phoned was told it could take up to 56 days (8 weeks!)
The banks really aren't in any position to set the timescales on refunding us our money - you're perfectly entitled to take the action advised by Martin, sending the letters advised.
I personally felt I was being fobbed off by the bank - they'd acknowledged none of my letters in writing and even said they'd written to me to acknowledge my claim, and I never received that - like many here.
I started MCOL as I felt it was time for me to set the agenda. I also remembered how the bank never gave me any leeway or time to raise money to sort my bank account out (overdrawn over my limit, entirely due to their charges snowballing each month), so I didn't see why I should give them time to get their act together!!

Hi
Don't know if this will help anyone but here goes nothing.
Sent my original letter to Natwest 26th Feb, sent further letter re court action 12th March. Waited and waited was about to start MCOL and decided to call Customer Relations. Like alot of others I was told an offer letter was being drawn up etc and should expect to receive it in 2/3 wks.
I decided to wait and see if it would materialise, several wks went by and nothing so called again and again. Told the same wait a little while longer. Was constantly reminded of their 8wk guidelines.
Called yesterday as 8 wks is up on Monday and asked what was happening. Was told that letter was in post and she kept refering to the 8wks being up on Monday. I too felt I was being fobbed off constantly. Especially when one guy told me that they don't log calls most of the time because they are too busy!!! Ah what a shame!
Anyway low and behold had letter in the post this morning, talk about cutting it fine! They have offered £200 less than my original request. I'm happy with that as I thought that money was long gone, so to me something is better than nothing and £4*** is like winning the lottery to me.
Just off to my local branch for them to fax a copy to customer relations and I am also going to send a copy special delivery also. Don't want them telling me they have never received it!!

Being a basically honest person I find it really worrying that NatWest seem to have no qualms about encouraging their staff to confuse/tell lies to customers... the chap in Customer Relations really did sound sincere!!What a way to run a business!!
Many thanks for your advice!!!0
