Just keep an eye on your claim through the moneyclaim site. You should see the stage you are at there, including relevent dates.

It currently just says "Issued 28/12/06 - judgement *start*"

    I'll keep looking :)

Have already made claims to Natwest for 2 accounts
    £2462.21 account 1
    £1033.00 account 2

Have checked account since made claim and further charges have built up in only 1 month: :wall:
    £514 - account 1
    £38 - account 2
:D Sending off letters today to reclaim these additional charges.
That will be a total claim of £4047.21 [With Interest eould be £4370.99]

Have had 2 standard "we are looking into your enquiry" letters claiming they will have dealt with and answered our enquiry by today so we are anxiously awaiting the postman to see if they are sticking to their word......

If it was not for the bank charges we would be ok, the charges are crippling us we only have a small income and every penny is accounted for so everytime there is a charge we go further overdrawn and cannot get out of it as no extra coming in. Banks are feeding their profits with charges on the poorer people. It is robbery ....

    :santa2:

A very stupid question, please excuse my naivety but...

Are their only certain charges that can be returned, I've read the thread that said about the overdraft charges and I've got one of those that was taken last month [admittedly, they knocked it down to £14 [half price apparently] as I pleaded with the overdraft guy that I couldn't afford them to charge me] and I have the feeling that I'm going to be charged another £28 for going over my overdraft again a rather erratic direct debit was taken out on yet another differing date [14th oct, 24th nov, 9th dec...]

Is there anything I can do or do I just have to lump it...? I'd appreciate any help, thank you!

You can reclaim any of the charges listed in THIS THREAD post #4. If any charges have been partly refunded already, you have to reduce the amount you claim by the amount already refunded.

You can only claim for charges already taken, not for any you think may be added (you can add these to your claim at a later stage before you issue a court claim)

So it'd probably be around £50ish from 'Exceeding Authorised Overdraft Limit ' and £14 from Capital One for a late payment...

I don't understand why they still charge if people can attempt to get them refunded

I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Terrible bank to use :( They charged me so much interest and charges AFTER they cancelled my overdraft! I was on a student account at uni with a £1,250 interest free overdraft, and accidently went about 3p over, incurring many costs, which I paid back as soon as I could then out of nowhere, they decided to cancel the overdraft and charged me extra charges.

One random phone insurance company tried to take out a direct debit twice in one day, (which I never signed for) and I was charged £30 each time. NatWest said there is nothing they can do about it and want the balance paid in full within 7 days, etc etc.

Now, I have a £1300 debt left to pay. and they have passed the debt onto some other company who phoned me and offered a settlement. If I pay £700 they will write the remaining debt off?! But I have about 6 weeks to do it

Any suggestions? Would it be a good idea for me to try and "haggle" them down? or shall I go through this process of claiming bank charges?

Please I need advice, as this may be my only chance to stop this debt for a cheaper amount??? :xmassign:

I am sure than you can't be sure of anything apart from the fact that this statement is true.
