thanks to you all so much for your advice will keep you updated as to what is happening . Not spoken to my sister today yet . They have two cars like a lot of others and the road is just about bursting but accepting you wont expect to park outside your door is ok and you find a parking spot nearby (it happens its ok)but its only recently there have been very large (bigger than my tranny) ford luton = 29 seater mini coach= big local glass delivery company= she thinks the luton is parked there by someone who lives a few streets away and goes to the local pub after work then walks home. The coach company is local too and have a yard about 10 miles away there is a few coaches in there overnight . Im wondering if for convenience they bring the bus home (who ever home it is) I am also wondering if they tell the insurance that it is kept in a secure area overnight thus making it invalid. Worth a phone call to the companies involved and a little word in their lugs. Why we are all now involved and concerned she has a 25yo man mountain of a son playing on his playstation and xbox upstairs. "beggers belief"
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Post me the law which states lorries have to park in truckstops, MSAs or industrial estates?

I'll view a lack of response an admission that you're talking out of your backside.

You can park a lorry where the hell you like.

    You can't.

However it is still perfectly legal as long as there's no lorry ban or weight restriction.

But every night. Unless the driver can prove that it is there during the normal course of his business, the local authority can prevent him from doing so.

That's partially correct. 3.5 tons unladen or 7.5 tons gross.

No it was fully correct, anything that has a GVW in excess of three and a half tonnes, is a category C vehicle.

  • LGV or Large Goods Vehicle, is anything over 7.5t gvw.

Some/most Local Authorities, includig all London Boroughs, ban overnight lorry parking on their residential roads.
Park them where you want after that though. Truckstops, MSAs, or industrial estates are good. Or the layby on your local dual carriageway if you feel you need to.

(SIGH) No, between 3.5 tons and 7.5 tons (MAX) is a class C1 Over 7.5 tons is a class C which is an LGV (HGV in old money).

    Is a class C not over 3500KG with a trailer under 750kg?

Oh, so its not actually a lorry at all and your sister is just another in a long line of clueless halfwits giving lorries and their drivers a bad name for something they've not actually done.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

If it is indeed a Luton, she's out of luck.

    You can't.

So please post the section in the road traffic act that states they can't park anywhere they want providing restrictions aren't in place.
