Car drived vans are LGV. Don't put 7.5t in a Berlingo though.0

No sorry. LGV= Large Goods Vehicle. Same meaning now as HGV. Your'e not thinking of PLG are you?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Hammyman have you had a sense of humour bypass? I don't think either suggestion you complain about was meant seriously.
No, just 16 years of suffering abuse from Joe Public because I happened to drive a lorry delivering goods that they buy. "You can't park that effin thing here" was a common one but where were we supposed to park when every single truckstop application was opposed by NIMBYS and moronic caravanners took over the HGV parks in MSAs?0 -
Fair points, but why shouldn't truck drivers who need to park somewhere other than their haulage yard over night be considerate and not park their rig outside someone's house on a residential street? It can't be very nice for the home owner.
Its not very nice for the lorry driver either who has to park up in a place with no showers, no place for a wash, no toilet and no access to a hot meal.0 -

park strategicly so the road is very narrow at at least one point just car width.
Another moronic suggestion. What happens if there's a fire in the middle of the night? People die because the fire engines path is blocked by cars. You'd also block ambulances as well because they're a couple of feet wider than a car.0 -
The regs state that an operating centre is where the vehicles are "normally" kept overnight. This, however, means that occasionally they are allowed to be away from the operating centre overnight. If, for example, the vehicle is on a journey where it can't be returned to the operating centre at night, it can be parked somewhere appropriately. That said, on a residential road, four feet away from someones window, is probably not appropriate.
However it is still perfectly legal as long as there's no lorry ban or weight restriction.0 -
Box them in. And take three quarters of an hour to get around to moving the adjacent cars out of the way.
They won't do it twice.0 -
It all depends on the O'licence you apply for.
We have ol's that state our trucks (7.5t,12 and 18 tonners) have to be parked up on/in the relevant depots overnight.
Then you get ol's that the hauliers use, where they can park up anywhere overnight,as they travel the length and breadth of the country.Yes they have to have a named 'base' so to speak, but they are not expected to have to stay there every night.
If they did this country would grind to a halt very very quickly.˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ
