Lorrys are parking right outside my front window

How do they get onto the ferries on a weekend when there's a HGV ban in France that starts at 0700 hrs?
At any one time there's apparently 1500 foreign HGVs on the road in the UK.0 -
Explain please.
He's talking out of his backside and grasping at straws. He's probably referring to the lorry bans there are in many mainland EU countries on a weekend. However the muppet forgets that most businesses in the UK close on a weekend so there'd be nobody to unload them and the EU drivers have to have the same weekly rest periods as British ones.0 -

That's not "all kinds of unsocial hours".0 -
I'm sure that all those people there who graft their backsides off 60+hrs a week working all kinds of unsocial hours and going out in a 44 tonne truck
Hardly "grafting their backsides off" if they are only working a 5 day week. After all, it's obvious that they don't work weekends because according to youmost businesses in the UK close on a weekend so there'd be nobody to unload them and the EU drivers have to have the same weekly rest periods as British ones.0 -
You know my dad used to drive for a living when truck drivers were called the knights of the road. I used to go with him during school holidays and it was great when other drivers showed respect because truck drivers had manners as well.
Have you ever driven along the A34? Every truck driver seems to relish a slight incline where they can pull out, slow everyone else down because the truck they are driving is 0.000000mph faster than the truck they are overtaking. B***y w*****s.
Hammyman, I have every sympathy with honest truck drivers, but please stop bleating on about how the UK would grind to a hlt without you.
There are ways around every obstacle (except a moronic truck driver on the two lane A34 apparently....:rotfl:)0 -

Quite a few drivers leave their truck parked up with the curtains drawn not only just for privacy but to deter people from breaking in. It is not always possible to park the truck away from residential properties either.
In that situation of having the truck parked outside someone's house then it might be better off for them to fire it up and move it somewhere to let it warm up or something before carrying on. However, it may need to build up air before moving off anyway as air in the system is vital for the brakes to work properly.
In cities you cannot always get suitable parking for a truck that is safe enough to park it yet doesn't cause SOMEONE some kind of interference.0 -
Simple solution, if the neighbours have so many cars, get them to park in such a way as to prevent lorries from parking. A car parked around every 15ft should do the trick.0

Any goods vehicle exceeding 1525kg unladen weight must have its parking lights on at night when parked on the road. Side roads, lay-by's and estates are not classed as 'off road' such as not needing lights.
So even a Luton Van would need 'parking lights'
As for reporting the coach or the truck to the company, there are a lot of companies these days that self insure. This is a process where they lodge a payment with the high court and look after any costs themselves but they have a high excess usually.
Reporting the vehicle to the relevant insurance company probably won't help your situation.
Have you considered putting a note on the wiper asking them not to park there and for the reasons you specify? You might not get the response you wanted but occasionally you might0 -
For the love of god...
The number of halfwits in this thread having a go at lorries (which then turn out not to be lorries) and bang on about what they can and can't do yet are completely clueless about what does and doesn't count as Cat C is beyond belief.
In short, there must be a sum total of three contributors to this thread who appear to actually know what a lorry is and what licence classes apply.
Yes Cat C is over 3500kg but so is Cat C1. Cat C1 however ends at 7500kg whereas Cat C ends at the legal limit for a rigid vehicle in the UK which is 32 tonnes.
What about a rigid cat C vehicle that 5 or 6 axles? Surely that would then push the max weight of the vehicle up the scale, 48t? 50t? ISTR that Leeds had a city weight limit of 50t and certain vehicles had to avoid said city. Although, those size vehicles aren't exactly common but I have come across them. Alas with only a C1 I've not had the pleasure of legally driving them yet but even so
Thank you for spelling it out as well. I'm sure it would have cleared a few issues up
The coach, btw, should have a label on the outside of the vehicle probably on the nearside and possibly near the main front door stating the operator of that vehicle and I am sure that a written complaint to the relevant company could alleviate your issues but it also may aggravate it further....0
