Before we moved to Australia last year, I always had fresh flowers in my home. Would have several bunches in several rooms, however I would also recommend Orchids. I was always lucky enough to buy mine whoopsied & they do last for ages. I miss my flowers!
Over here cut flowers are very expensive & I couldn't justify paying over the odds for them ,however I have twice managed to get cut orchids (like a bunch of flowers) mega reduced. First lot lasted about 6 weeks & this lot have been on the go for 3 weeks with plenty life still in them.0 -
In Feb I buy British grown daffodils - they're much later to flower in the north east so cheer me up in readiness for our spring - and they're half price at sainsbury's at the moment. We grow flowers to cut for the house - especially sweetpeas - the scent is phenomenal!0

I grow Oriental lilies in the summer in pots on the patio. kept me supplied with flowers for the house for weeks! just one in a slim vase looks lovely - massed in a huge glass vase was just 'out of this world'0

My ds3 buys me a bunch of flowers every thursday from the market. He has been doing it for so long now (past 3 years) that the flower stall gives him them really cheap , at Christmas he made a beautifull door wreath for me (the seller not my son;))Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0

I don't buy fresh flowers - they would be wasted on my shabby little house. Once my house is looking nice, I might treat myself now and then when they are on offer

but you NEED them now!!! the flowers would brighten up the room - and lift your mood!
not to mention that no-one would notice how shabby the room is when there are a few artfully arranged flowers to catch their eye!0 -
I buy them every other week and I usually get 2 weeks use out of them I tend to spend about £3 at Morrisons and they seem to last0

I've just commented this evening how my mum bought me a lovely bunch of lillies on 24th Jan (My birthday) & they are still going strong! Money well spent. (Salisbury's £4.99)Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker

I love them, usually buy ones that last a long time and are scented, thus saving me from buying fresheners (honest, it makes it moneysaving )
Stargazer lilies are my favourite.
Moneysaving also means that I don't get them around Valentine's or mothers day.
But a lot of the time, I get bulbs instead as they can be reused in the garden next year.
Having said that, I am considering buying some lilies online so I get them by the front door all summer. And I'll grow sweet peas as they are the best and you can never get those in the supermarket. And some roses, as commercial ones look nice but have no scent. Which makes them next to useless to me.
I love plants and flowers.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll
