postie also/
please remember there is more than royal mail delivering to your house.
there is now an open market ie. dhl famac etc....did u inform them?
am wrongly accused of this weekly not redirecting.
also people who get mail redirected never seem to contact the sender to inform them of there move. ie 1 year on i am still redirecting phone bills bank statements etc...people not that concerned also.0 -
When one of my tenants moved out, he left me with a pile of address labels
If post did arrive, it took me no time to stick a label on and pop the post in a post box. 0 -
Years ago you did not have to pay to send on mail to a former house owner ... you just wrote "please forward" and sent it off ... can anyone please tell me if this is still the case or do you have to pay ..??? Want to know so we can possibly forward mail on..?? Thank you!! :rolleyes:0

I've had mail going missing and when I tried to cancel the redirection early it was difficult. When they finally accepted my cancellation instructions the mail were still being redirected! Even after the expiration date of the original agreement! I was not impressed but what choices do we have?!0

When I bought my house, the previous owner seemed to have re-directed important mail (banks etc) but didn't bother with the Royal Mail service as I got loads of stuff.
I printed off some address stickers and simply put them onto anything that arrived, then put the items back in the post box.
After a month or two, I got a letter saying I'd got the right road but wrong number for the previous owner and could I stop re-addressing the mail to a random person

You don't need to pay, just cross out the wrong address, write the correct address (or stick an address label on) on the envelope and stick it back in the post.Roma wrote:Years ago you did not have to pay to send on mail to a former house owner ... you just wrote "please forward" and sent it off ... can anyone please tell me if this is still the case or do you have to pay ..??? When I complained I did it in writing. I always complain in writing as I found companies tend to ignore telephone complaints.
Also I never let a bank send cards to an address if I'm moving house and have informed them of my new address. I've changed banks over this issue.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

im a postie and just to let people know that if you move and have you mail re-directed BUT your partner has not moved, any mail addressed to both of you will NOT be re-directed.0

The last time I had my mail redirected, there was a problem. I received mail for 2 days and then nothing for weeks, not even mail addressed to the new address, nor mail I was expecting. It was almost creepy.
After 2 weeks I complained in writing and a week later got a reply that, rest assured, there was nothing wrong and I should be receiving my mail, and here's a set of 6 1st class stamps - but still no mail arrived, NONE!!!
After 4 weeks, and by then I was getting quite worried, I caught our postman and asked him. He thought it was very strange...
Next day the doorbell rang and there was my postman with a HUGE pile of mail, 4 week's worth. There had been a misunderstanding and the post office was waiting to get my new address (they thought I was moving again and were collecting everything for me).
It took me all day sorting out the mail and phoning all the companies who had sent me final reminders for unpaid bills from the old place.
Oh what fun moving house:rolleyes:He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
