Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 16th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all! thought I'd start the thread today!:)

just having a cuppa before work. Will catch up with you all later.
Have a wonderful day!

Morning everyone - cold and wet here again!

Today the car is going in for it's second service, and not yet 2 years old. So will leave it at the garage and then walk to my office base which is not too far away.

I've been going to bed really early the last couple of nights, got my first cold of the winter and it's bunged me up rather horribly. Head, jaw and neck all sore so it's better to be lying down with my eyes closed. Really don't want it to travel down to my chest.

Breakfast will be bacon and egg, lunch soup and a piece of pizza quiche (LC) and evening meal TBC.

Hope that everyone is well and warm.
  • Morning all
Cold again this morning, the car doors were frozen shut.
The usual chores have been done, DW unloaded & reloaded, packups made, fish fed, hubby dropped at the station & breakfast eaten.
Fish for tea tonight, can't decide between fish pie & smoked haddock mornay at the moment.
    Have a good day everybody.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good Morning All

Cold and damp here too :(

Couldn't make my meal last night as OH had to take my car for work  luckily we are all going to meet up again next month for my birthday.

Busy day today, essential buss work first thing then some housework. Need to pick up the kids from school early as we are all off to the dentist  I have a broken tooth so need some work done. My dentist is lovely but I do hate going there.

Not sure what is for dinner, might need to be something soft for me.

Gotta go wake the kids now - have a good one.x

Morning all, dawn just breaking over the field and house outside. Looks chilly though. DS1 been up since I don't know when watching star wars! (only the xxxth time he's watched it!!!). Loads of catching up to do today with the fly lady thread - did nothing yesterday .

DS2 up now and cuddling in. My parents are coming over today for a visit (whilst the children are at school!) so Mum and I might get some seedlings planted up. So far I have strawberries, potatoes (chitting) and tomatoes. Want to plant up carrots, onions, chillis and loads of other things. If even a bit grows then I've saved some money.

Right, better finish coffee and then get everyone dressed! Have a good day all
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • morning all damp grey and grotty looking here .after school run I have a trip out into the country to Penbury to the lymphodema clinic this morning .It was supposed to be moved to Rainham locally in January but because of cut-backs no one is quite sure when its going to happen. We have a huge smart new health centre locally which is half empy because no one at the local PCT can make a decision.Too many chiefs and not enough indians I think.
Well I'm off for breakfast ,have a good day everyone

    Morning all,

Quick one from me today, running late, dw is on and rubish been put out.

Dinner tonight is omlette and salad, nice and quick, will do another wash tonight.

Had a bad night with dad last night, will write more about it later on, but things have really come to a head.

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning all,
At home day today, just need to do some planning.
    Damp and grey here atm.
House guests leaving today. It will seem strange to just be me & DH again. This means lots of bed stripping and washing of same.
Yesterday we had yummy cottage pie with lots over to freeze.
We are going out for lunch, DH, DD1, DSIL & me. Using doubled up T*sco vouchers. Not done this before so hope it all works smoothly.
Right, need to make tracks - cooking pancakes for younguns.
Hugs to all in need, Happy Wednesday, Silver x
Supper (if we need it) will be lo cauli & broccoli cheese with linguine.

    Morning all

I think this will be the last day I can wear my new pair of trousers (started wearing them last week...) as I am in danger of them falling down and exposing myself lol - healthy eatings working but need to get weighed to see how well!

Kids are of school and DH has been given a few days work so his DSis is taking them today and his eldest Dsis is having them tomorrow and then i'm off on Friday. He is not looking forward to tomorrow as he has a job 5am-6am, then the day 11am to 9pm and then 9:30am to 3:30am. He'll then be back out at half ten on Friday!

Need to meal plan and do a shopping list as I have nothing in. Really relied on the store cupboard this last few weeks so need to start re-stocking. I have no oats for twinks  i feel a little lightheaded at the thought!

Start back full time in a couple of weeks so really need to get back into batch cooking. Have a good day!

Redruby - sounds like you've having a hard time, big hugs, we're here if you need us x

Bright but chilly start to the day, we've had a frost overnight. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Went out for jog at 6am, DS1 came with me, had a much better run than Monday - have to see what the scales say!

Dinner last night was quick boys just wanted cheese on toast and I had a jacket potato. I remembered to get frozen casserole out of freezer to defrost for tonight - but done my usual, haven't labelled everything so could make for an interesting combination!

Working today just until lunchtime then on days off until Monday - need to get organised as we're going away for 1 night and DS1 is going to my parents - they bought him Karting lessons for Xmas and the first one is Saturday - he's really looking forward to it.

Have meeting at school for DS1 to speak to individual teachers as he's choosing his options at the moment.

Tried a pair of trousers on in MrT yesterday morning and managed to get into a size smaller and they weren't tight either - yippee, that makes it worthwhile!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
