  • Good afternoon everyone,

Apologies if this thread has been started incorrectly.

I wrote to the HSBC on the 9th July asking for my money back (1st letter), they have responded with a letter dated 16th July stating a reference number and that they will contact me with a full response upon investigating my claim. Included with the letter is a little pamphlet 'Listening to your comments'. Inside this pamphlet it tells me what I should do regarding a concern (contact bank manager etc and addresses) if they can't resolve on the spot they will reply with a letter within five days - which they have sort of done.

It then states 'Step 3' If I am not satisfied with their final response, or if eight weeks have passed to go to the financial ombudsman service and gives the address for them.

Should I now wait 8 weeks to see the results of the investigation? I was expecting no reply and to send a second letter reiterating my first letter giving them 14 more days. Then court.

Please can someone give me their thoughts as a return letter at this stage doesn't seem to be covered.

many thanks (sorry for being long winded)

I would wait for the 8 weeks if i were you, thats what i did and it took them just over 7 weeks to reply with a offer, seems like this is what they are doing with most people, good luck and stick with it!

What do you guys reckon my chances are? I have been going through the process of reclaiming some charges and now at the court stage. Just got me court date through this morning:eek: . I have had an offer from the bank offering me all my charges back less intrest which i am prepared to accept, but would like the money back its cost me to get this far. I first wrote to them over 13 weeks ago and logged my complaint and asked for my charges back. Since then i have treatend to go to court, rang them and now going to court. In the telephone calls that i made they couldn't tell me what was happening to my complaint and was told to wait the 8 weeks. Now i've drafted out a letter accepting their offer if they pay me the court costs pointing out that it has taken them over 13 weeks to deal with this complaint do you reckon they will go for it or am i going to court?
  • Thanks for your reply.

Did you accept the offer or go on to the end?

Stalling tactics. Work to YOUR timetable, not their's.
