Hello All
Maybe it's because the Easter holidays are drawing to a close but HSBC have really gotten on my wick today, so I thought I'd finally post here to release some tension (and perhaps pick up some moral support).
I compiled my list of charges via online banking and arranged them (minus interest) into spreadsheet form with the following column headings: Statement Date, Date of Charge, Details, Amount. The total amount claimed at this stage was only £405.50 so I was hoping I might possibly be a candidate for a pre-MCOL settlement. Yeah right. All letters were sent to the SQT in Leeds.
First letter requesting £405.50 sent 12-02-07.
Standard response from Mr Langdale received 19-02-07.
Second letter (LBA) sent 02-03-07.
Letter from Mr Langdale on 15-03-07 stating that he will contact me with a full response by 12-04-07.
MCOL instigated on 23-03-07: £405.50 + £129.58 interest + £80 court fee.
Claim acknowledged 27-03-07.
Letter from Mr Langdale recieved today: 'Further to our letter dated 1st March 2007 we have not received a response from you. Please can we ask that you respond within 7 days otherwise we will consider the matter closed in our records'.
What letter?!?
After spending over 40 minutes on hold, a nice young man answered and began looking into my query. After a further few minutes on hold, he told me he'd spoken to the charges department and that communication between the bank and myself on this matter could now only take place via solicitors. Oh, and that today's letter was a 'mistake', and I should disregard it.
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about here, and that this is probably just part of HSBC's 'Unnerve the Customer' policy. I'm quite annoyed with myself for allowing them to rattle me, and also for not strictly sticking to the deadlines I set out in my letters.
I didn't receive a full response, as promised, from Mr Langdale by their 12th April, so seeing as their 8 week response deadline has passed, would there be any merit in taking the matter to the Financial Ombudsman? Or should I just shut up, put up, and wait til the 28 days (or however many days MCOL allows) to elapse, and the next stage begins.
My apologies for the long ranty post. I know you've probably all heard it before but I just needed to let off some steam. Thanks you all Moneysavers for allowing me the opportunity to do that. :A0 -

Sick - easiest if you look back over the last 4/5 pages, you're in the same boat as me and a few others and i've outlined what'll happen next a day or so ago. You won't be going to court. You'll highly likely get your offer just before the court date that you'll be given soon.
don't worry, it's near the end!Lou0 -

LOL - we have heard it all before but it's still fun listening to the frustration coming out... stay calm, gentle music, inhale...exhale...wait for the money to come back in...Lou0 -
Hi, i'm after a bit of help here,
I've just recieved my 'Notice of transfer proceedings' from Northhampton county court. It states that 'the filing of an allocation questionaiire be dispensed with in this case unless the district judge at the court of transfer orders otherwise'
HSBC's defence consists soley of references to their terms and conditions so no worries ther, but what do i need to do now?
I'm a bit concerned because from tomorrow i'll be out of the country untill the 23rd. Does anything need to happen before then, do I need to send anybody anything?
Thanks in advance for your help..

Read back a few pages where i've posted a message on the process now. many judges are dispensing with AQs as they know the banks are wasting time and will not turn up. You are lucky as your local court will now be able to (probably) give you an earlier date and you'll get your offer shortly before. Go away happy in the knowledge that it's almost over...Lou0 -

Hi there I have just started today with HSBC, I rang them to find out the address to send my 1st letter to and the woman on the phone said she would contact the relevant department and I should recieve my statements with 40 working days for both my accounts..... should I trust what she said or send the 1st letter anyway? Any experiences of requesting your statements by phone out there?0
