Hello ! I can't believe what a helpful site this is !!!
I am in the process of battering the hell out of HSBC and their RIDICULOUS charges... mine were £150 and that's just for ONE MONTH on a personal account (last month). They owe me £1162 altogether apparently - fortunately I never throw statements away, so now I am plooughing through 6 years worth of credit card statements (7 different credit cards, 2 bank accounts) lol
Sent an email to them and they said they would reverse the £150 in FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT.
Sent my first official letter for the full £1162 on 2nd April - received a letter from them saying get stuffed (basically) on 4th April, followed by another letter (also dated 4th April) saying that they are looking into the matter and will respond in full soon.
I LOVE the interest calculator, very cool tool. :T

Hi funky fudge, i had exactly the same response from hsbc mid march, 1 letter saying NO WAY! and another one saying add up your charges to date and we will consider your request, (letters recieved within 3 days of each other)so added my charges up and sent them to them, sent them total via recorded delivery 1/4, emailed them via internet banking yesterday and they have replied sayimg my claim is being investigated!!! think im gonna just email them every day till they get sick of me, let me know how you get on with themFunky_Fudge wrote: »Hello ! does anything this bank do surprise u? this being the bank that has just said only rich people can use that branch (think its down south somewhere!)vinegarvera wrote: »Me too!!!! If 34.00 wasn't bad enough now I have a charge for 150.00!!! for being 27.00 overdrawn for 1 day!!!!!

Well I'm glad my hubby found this site - it's nice to know that there are other peopl ein the same boat - even if it is a crappy old boat with big holes in it !! lol
One thing that did surprise me though, was the SPEED at the banks responses... all of the ones i contacted on the 2nd April have responded in one way or another... with Barclaycard being the most generous by far (offering a third of the amount owed on 2 cards). I thought that perhaps they would bury their heads in the sand a bit... ahh well, bring it on I say, makes a change from cooking !! lol :T0 -

Hubby was saying earlier on the radio HSBC have anounced that they are no longer going to accept over the counter transactions from us "poor" accountholders who don't have at least £2K in a savings account with them or at least a £200K mortgage?? I'll go and get some more details... needless to say, wasn't tooo surprised :cool:0 -
I am just about to send off my letter to reclaim £1,330 from HSBC for the last 6 years worth of charges (most of which were taken from me when they KNEW i was unemployed!) [this was also the same time i got into the debt mess im in now]
then i plan to close my account myself (in process of setting up my parachute account, crossing fingers that the bank i applied with will accept me) as HSBC have given me nothing but sh*t for the last 4 years and no help in my financial struggles - their managed loan will take me til;2018 to pay off and i've had it 2 years already, its at 9k started at 10,500 i must have paid back nearly £2000 just in interest on that loan! if it had NO INTEREST that means it would be down to 6k or less by now the theiving evil people
anyway - i digress
does HSBC tend to just award the charges refund without too much hassle - i know 2 friends at the same local branch as me got theirs back within a month (£600 and £500 respecively)Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100

ooh may be able to open account there if they give me my charges back NOT!
They actally owe me £2,200 but can assure you that if they do cough up what they owe me it will be going straight into my brad and bingley account,
Aparantly not only do u need 2 grand savings but you need to earn a minimum of 75 grand a year (or something like that)
