Aldi 32" HD LCD TV 23rd November (merged)

Got one!
Fourth in the queue at half eight, and by nine there was a queue of about thirty. Got straight in when the doors opened but there was a lot of hustle and complaining behind me. They apparently had 24 sets so some people would have been disappointed.
But I'm not one of them! Looks nice out of the box and connected to my 360 via component it looks ace. What is strange is that when out of curiousity I set things to 1080p then the tv both seems to recognise and accept it, whereas my Samsung didn't. I'm not sure how that works.
An SD signal via my Humax PVR looks fine. Was worried that an SD signal would look poor on a large LCD but even without messing about with the settings, things look more than okay.
I use a seperate set-up for audio but a quick flick reveals that the sound on the tv is more than reasonable as well.
Oh yeah, the tv was advertised as having a brightness of 400cdm2. The manual also states 400cdm2 whereas according to the box it is 500cdm2.0 -
I toyed with the idea of the Aldi, but I have a real problem with medion/tevion products, sure they're mighty cheap but I've just not found the quality to be there yet. This accross their entire range, whether it be laptops, navigation systems or toasters. Just think that for the sake of saving a couple of quid it's not worth the gamble. Personally I went looking for something similar and found this..

I know it's only a 26" but the quality is fantastic, I bought it last night and I'm well impressed. My XBox360 looks phenomenal.0 -

I know the Tevion one is a rebadge but where did you read that the Polaroid one was? I would be interested to hear, because I it says made in the US on the back.

All these budget brand lcd panels are rebranded/rebadged...how many times have you seen Polaroid selling any kind of tv anywhere before?
There are a limited number of lcd panel manufacturers in the world, afaik only around 5-6, various companies buy these panels and stick their badge on them.0 -
they have a massive selection of lcd and tft monitors in the states, seems to me you're a little ill informed. Polaroid have been around in the imaging market for almost a century, and they've been involved with Digital imaging, displays and printers/copiers for a long time now. They do indeed make their own displays as do Xerox, they're not in any way shape or form rebadged. The components inside, including the screen will most definately be from one of the big three (I used to work for Panasonic, Matsushita are the worlds biggest supplier of plasma and lcd panels) but as we've seen before, several compaines use the same panels with shockingly different results.
I only posted it as a comparison to the Aldi one for those unfortunate enough not to get one today. The picture quality is excellent as you would expect it to be from a company with such an imaging background.0
