Just checked on the Techfever site.

Price is up to £429.49 incl VAT.

For delivery to mainland UK add approx £10.55 @ 22kg.

Quidco works on the net product value (£365.52) so take away 2.5% = £9.14.

    Total price => £430.90 delivered.

If the Aldi TV is £389 then this is a difference of £41.90.

I agree with MyUserNamesTaken, the Techfever TV looks the better product but the question now is, is it worth the extra £41.90 (approx 10% more) over the Aldi which, as terrierlady correctly points out, has the 3 year guarantee (vs 2 year for Techfever)?

Those with LCD TV knowledge, I'm all ears!

  • It is not only the make of the panel that determines the picture quality, you also have to take into account the internal electronics driver systems and software systems that all go in to make a good LCD.
e.g. Take the samsung le32n73 and the sony kdl32v2000 both tv's use the same samsung panel but the PQ on the sony is far superior to the sammy.
This is due as i have said to the product being better put together as a whole. I looked into this as i wanted to buy the sammy as it had the same panel but after comparing the two in stores it became clear that the pq on the sony was much better. As a result i didnt buy the sammy and will wait for the sony to come down in price.

I have the Teco (in fact I'm using it as the monitor now). It looks sexier than Mylene Klass in a white bikini.

I have the Teco and there is no way it looks better than Myleene Klass in a white bikini...

Its a very good TV, and works great as a PC monitor too. Channel switching is very slow at about 2-3 seconds ( a minor irritation). It also turns itself on when a scart input becomes active. So if you have a freeview box that turns on to check for software updates in the middle of the night ( most do) , it will turn on the TV. Just leave your freeview box ON overnight and it won't turn on the tv (because the scart wont trigger the TV into life).

Definitely worth the extra. Besides, there's no guaranteeing that it will stay that price when it comes back into stock. As stated earlier, I paid £407 all in for mine last week.

There have been a lot of bad reviews and complaints about Aldi's previous LCD and Plasma TVs. Check out the reviews for the last couple they did. Oh, and the price on this set has not been released yet. (The OH works for Aldi and doesn't even know the price yet.)

I would guess it will be £449 and they will all be returned within a week due to being faulty if it's like all other Aldi products :D

Can now definitely confirm that the price is £389.99 as I've just picked up their new leaflet.

Looks like the Teco is winning hands down on overall quality but the Tevion wins on price and warranty. No contest, I'll go for quality!

Wonder what the plastic will say about that? :D

I was also lucky enough to get the 40" and at £849 it was extremely good value for money, some £200 - £400 cheaper than the nearest similar offer (including taking account the 3 year guarantee). I've upgraded to SkyHD and the picture on the BBC HD channel, Sport HD & movies HD is really, really good. Only downside is the sound isn't quite good enough from the screen speakers so intend to upgrade that after Xmas.

I did have a problem a couple of weeks ago with the Aldi HDMI DVD player I bought at the same time but Aldi echanged it, 'no questions asked' - if only Dixons or Currys had that level of service!

I would be surprised if this one was as high as £389 as both Woolies & Sainsburys have had 32" for around this price. Based on my experience, I would certainly recommend Aldi.
