Main Spec...
2 x OCZ Vertex 2e 120GB in RAID0
2 x OCZ Vertex 2e 60gb (1 o/s and apps, 1 for swap file and rendering)
Corsair H70 Watercooling
16gb G. Skill Ripjaw
Windows 7 Ultimate
Sandy Bridge 2600K O/C
Gigabyte P67 UD7 M/B
2 X 2TB HDD
Dual Geforce GTX580 SLi
3 X 24" Widescreen Monitors
Seriously Lil there's sensible and less than sensible setups.....
FOUR SSDs? RAID not just going to over complicate things and cause a headache further down the line when the array breaks down?
16GB RAM? 6-12 not enough?
4GB new/added storage? -nothing to re-use?
Sandy Bridge 2600K O/C? is that one of the flawed/recalled ones?
one GTX580 not more than enough to cope with most things on highest settings for the next 4 years or so ....beyond that not just a load of extra heat loading?
and are those monitors 3D or not?
Bluray drive?
re-using your old sound card?
case?
looking in the right-ish area but leaning very heavily on expensive components you'd do just fine cutting back by half and replace the entire machine sooner when the next gen stuff comes out.
...otherwise you're lucky I remember seeing a few sensibe/useful posts from you not to throw you into the troll box :A0 -

So you are basically boasting that you are spending £3700 PLUS INTEREST on a new computer that you are just going to play games on?? WHY would you do that on a MONEYSAVING website? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

He joined in Dec 2009 and he has managed to learn *nothing*

When you spend top money to buy the very latest components they are not the latest components after a few months and their price drops drastically! This is fine if you're rich and don't care, but if you're financing this through a LOAN its just a stupid thing to do.
He'll be over in the Bankruptcy forum in a few years you mark my words

Unfortunately, PC hardware advances at such a rate that it's not going to stay 'top' for long and then falls to be worth a fraction of the initial investment. That's on the assumption that the hardware lasts long enough to be worth anything, which stressed components often don't, let alone the wide berth they get given on the second hand market.
As I said initially, seems excessive. There's a point in buying hardware where the cost far exceeds any realistic and useful performance increase. The specification has gone beyond that.0 -
Lol, i like this idiot. Almost any p.c. you buy has a resale value of £0 after about 5 years. Your funny. Would love to be their when the realisation kicks in .......... '!!!!!!, i actually spent £3.7k on a computer and took out a loan to do it........click click.... boom!'
....... dead o.p0 -
Realistically though, if you've got the cash, i don't think people would care what you spent it on. I spent 4k on my honeymoon - some people may think that's madness, others would spend twice as much. However - i didn't borrow money to do that.
The crazy part is borrowing money for a depreciating asset.0
