Council move, not entitled to HB and running up huge debts!

We don't have savings because we decorated our home and saved for our new baby. I also spend considerable amounts of money every month travelling to care for my mum who is bedridden with MS but that's neither here nor there. I had everything and it's just been taken away from me. I had to spend Christmas Day in a B&B with a three year old and a newborn baby. You have no idea how awful that felt. Would you be saying this to someone who was harrassed at work and was the one made to leave. "Unlucky mate, but heyyy at least you had a job...don't be so down that you don't have one now!" It's the same principal.0

You do have a home, albeit it in an imperfect situation. Be grateful for what you have, many people spend months in a B&B, or in extremes get shoved in a hostel and their children removed.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I didn't have this income when I got my council house but considering I spent thousands of pounds decorating it and I am spending £400 to keep my stuff in storage. Why should I not be entitled to a council house? People on this site are unbelievable...you would moan if I didn't work and was claiming HB and you are moaning that I do work and expect a council house. Yes, I do expect one - because one week before Christmas the council moved me out of my home, are charging me in excess of £1,400 more because I shouldn't have to get rid of the things that I had. C'mon people, I'm sure most of you would be raging if you were going through this at no fault at all of your own! Where the hell is the justice?
I had a nice little 2 bed house, 5 mins from my Mum, new double galzing, central heating, had just decorated it and social services made me give it all up because of my ex, now I live in a crappy 2 bed flat, no heating, awful condensation and mould, but it's temporary, oh and I spent 4 months in a god awful refuge....
At the end of the day it is unfair yes, but count yourself lucky that firstly you have a roof over your heads, and secondly you have been accepted by the council and are eventually going to be rehoused.Incomings = £2670.
Previous outgoings before we got moved -Rent £240, CT £98, Gas & Leccy £70, Childminder £40, Travelling £120
New Outgoings (extras due to the move) - Rent - £946, CT £118, Gas & Leccy (pre-payment meter) £120, Childminder £65, Travelling £200, Kennels £400, Storage costs £400
All I am saying is : We are the 3rd family to be forced out of the block due to this man's violent and threatening nature. Why should we be penalised so much?0 -

Peoplel don't get split up from there children unless they have reason to have them removed...a ridiculous comment! A family must be rehoused as a family unless a social services intervention determines otherwise0 -
He is council as well. His sister works for the housing and is in an extremely high managerial position. The police told us they have been trying to get him evicted for years but the way the council she it...he will just cause the trouble elsewhere.0

If there is nowhere to rehouse a family, they will be split up. You seem to think that there is an infinite supply of social housing, that is what is ridiculous.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I understand that your outgoings have dramatically increased due to no fault of your own... however it is you who is holding out for another council house rather than going private for renting.. No wonder you were so well off with so much money left over after your outgoings BUT circumstances have changed for you (as they do for other people also through no fault of their own) and it is up to you to now deal with it and make decisions based on what you can afford. As this is temporary housing why have you paid for Virgin to be installed etc? This is also just pushing up your outgoings each month.
Personally if i'd been put in your situation I would either a) Get rid of the dogs as £400 a month is simply too much or b) Find a private rent - yes this will cost more than your previous home but it will not be as much as you are currently paying and will cut out the £800 pcm for storage and dogs kennels.
You will not get housing benefit based on your income so it's time to take charge of your situation or face large debts and some cut backs while you wait for another council house. I do not mean to sound harsh but people have to deal with situations created by no doing of their own all the time.. I do fully understand your anger but you need to look at the situation with a clear head.Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0 -

Have to agree with ONW. Why an earth would you spend thousands on decorating on house you don't own. Paper and paint would cost a few hundred pounds.
I own my own house and don't spend that much.
I need to carpet through out and need a new kitchen. But just can't justify spending that sort of money and I own my own house.
As it is temp I don't see why you are thinking you are entitled to housing benefit.
And no people on here are not jealous or bitter. You are lucky to have a very comfortable income now. Yes the move is not your fault. But it is something you will have to live with, yes it is stressful.
And you will just have to keep a close on your budget something that you must already be use to.
Also don't forget that you tax credits will change again in April. Most likely go down because of this tax years income. So that is something else you need to keep in mind.

When I rented I don't think I spent more than £200 on decorating in the three years I was there, and that was using Laura Ashley products. I am of course far better at moneysaving now, so would easily halve that amount.Gone ... or have I?0 -
The plan always was that we would own it eventually. And just coz I can't get a mortgage why should I not have a nicely decorated home? Bitter much?
Why should I be bitter?
Anyway, at least you've only a few weeks until you get your inheritance.
