The way things are going, you would be better off in the private sector, you may get a council house, but with the new rules coming in, it will no longer be a home for life.

You earn more than most people and can well afford a rented house, or even a morgage, with the earnings you receiving, I think that it is a down right cheek, that you are asking for taxpayers help, to pay your rent when you are squandering £400.00 a month on two dogs.

Get rid of the dogs, and then you will come out even. Many people don't even receive £400.00 a month to live on.
  • Considering there are 4 bed houses for sale in Fife for less than £75,000, it's amazing that someone with this income should even be considered for council housing.
  • I didn't have this income when I got my council house but considering I spent thousands of pounds decorating it and I am spending £400 to keep my stuff in storage. Why should I not be entitled to a council house? People on this site are unbelievable...you would moan if I didn't work and was claiming HB and you are moaning that I do work and expect a council house. Yes, I do expect one - because one week before Christmas the council moved me out of my home, are charging me in excess of £1,400 more because I shouldn't have to get rid of the things that I had. C'mon people, I'm sure most of you would be raging if you were going through this at no fault at all of your own! Where the hell is the justice?

    On here..

If you enter £49000 as salary, and add student loan in (I pay this so reasonable to add in my opinion), then take home is £2680, which is roughly the figure you gave earlier in the thread.

43.7k on both the salary calculator I used, and on the link you provided, which is more than I estimated before but less than your calculation.

Not sure why you've added a student loan.

People are being a bit cross not only because of the council house issue but because, even with your new expenses, you have a large amount per week left over and you are still complaining that you cannot manage!

(Anyone who spends thousands of pounds decorating a house they don't own has more money than sense, but that's just me.)
  • Incomings = £2670.

Previous outgoings before we got moved -Rent £240, CT £98, Gas & Leccy £70, Childminder £40, Travelling £120
New Outgoings (extras due to the move) - Rent - £946, CT £118, Gas & Leccy (pre-payment meter) £120, Childminder £65, Travelling £200, Kennels £400, Storage costs £400

All I am saying is : We are the 3rd family to be forced out of the block due to this man's violent and threatening nature. Why should we be penalised so much?

The plan always was that we would own it eventually. And just coz I can't get a mortgage why should I not have a nicely decorated home? Bitter much?

It was your choice to spend that money decorating your house though. People renting privately don't get to enjoy the security of tenure that those in council housing do, they may have to move every 6 months through no fault of thier own. The thread title says - Not entilted to HB, why should you be when you have income of over £40 000 a year. It's not the councils fault that your running up debts - your rent is still just a third of your income.

If you had such low outgoings before, why do you not have savings?

You seem to expect everything to be handed to you on a plate. You need a severe reality check.
