Hiya. You need to add the item to your basket and once you start the account set-up you get offered a 'gift' for opening an account. These include items such as an mp3 player, digital camera, footspa etc... or 20% discount off your first order (discount code 20.)

I know - what a bargain!! The only part that may not work is the Quidco cashback. I haven't used it before this (although have done since for my xmas shopping!!) so don't know how reliable it is.

Can you confirm that you get the full GU 10% cashback on the full price of the the system? And not just 10% on the remaining purchase price over £150.

yep. Definately. I called their helpine to double-check and they confirmed that the 10% cashback (they call it commision) is on the full price... they just don't pay out any cashback until you have paid at least £150.

I just ordered through GUS, setup account but didnt get offered any free gift. Order has come through nothing showing about 20% discount either

Stubbarama!! Did you choose to open an account or pay immediately? You need to open a GU account & follow their instructions. Cancel that order and try again!!

Here's the method again...

1) Log into Quidco (open an account if you don't have one!) & visit Great Universal site.

2) Order the full 360 at £309 (or whatever else you fancy), and create a Great Universal account. During this process you are asked to enter a "Gift Code" - underneath this is a link called "Get your Gift code" - click this link or just enter code '20' to reduce the price to £247.20. NB> This new amount will not appear on the order straight away!!!

3) The order will probably be cancelled by GU for 'credit' reasons. Don't take this personally, it's because it's a large amount for your first order. Call them a few hours after you have placed the order (rather than wait for them to send you a letter) & pay £50 deposit, then 24 hours later log into your account on the GU website/phone back to reorder. nb. to use the 20% discount code again if you have to re-order!

4) Your 360 should arrive in upto 3 weeks (max! I will update this when mine arrives) & you will receive your first statement. Pay £174.75, either in one go, or interest free over a few months.

5) Once you have paid £224.75 (£50 'deposit' + £174.75) you will be entitled to £22.47 cashback, which you can use to clear the final amount outstanding.

Total paid to GU = £224.75

You'll also receive your 8% cashback from Quidco.
Mine is currently being tracked on Quidco as £24.72 (being based on the order price of £309) payment to me due in Jan 2007.
This will mean that I will have got the full 360 for £200.03

nb. If the Quidco cashback amount is changed to the £247.20 (£309-20% discount) then I will get £19.77 cashback, paying a total of £204.98

Call the helpine if you're concerned re: the 20% discount. I did and they confirmed all ok.

The discount did not show on the accounts screen for about 3 days, but appears now...
