Bit of a fiddly one, and you have to wait for the cashback, but this should work for quite a while...
Log into "Great Universal" via your Quidco account. This gives you 8% cashback on your order.
Great Universal sell the premium 360 for £309 (!!) but you get a 20% first order discount if you open an account with them.
This brings the price down to £247.20.
You can either pay interest free over a few months, or pay in full when you get your first statement. You also get 10% cashback on your payments via GU, so once you have paid for the xbox you get £24 cash back via BACS/cheque.
(nb. you can alternatively choose 12.5% cashback in goods from the catalogue)
This brings the price down to £223.20.
And of course you still get the 8% cashback from Quidco... not sure if this is 8% of £309 (£24.72), or 8% of £247.20 (£19.77)
This way the premium 360 costs you either £198.48 or £203.43. Saving approx £80, or 28.6% !!

Sure. Most mail order catalogues have similar schemes. They send you a monthly statement with a minimum payment amount. Pay this or the total amount outstanding price.
For every £1 you pay you get 'cashback' - with Great Universal (GU) this cashback works out at 12.5% against future purchases, or 10% if you want the cashback paid to you (via Bacs/cheque)
With GU you have to pay a minimum of £150 before they allow you to claim cashback. I'm going to wait for my first statement, pay for the xbox in full, then claim my 10% cashback via Bacs.0 -

Try reading the T&C's. You'll find electricals are excluded from the 20%.0 -

I did read the T&C's on the website:
*All offers are subject to stock availability. We reserve the right to supply a suitable alternative of equal or greater value. The 20% discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. It is restricted to one per person and is only available on your first order. 20% discount does not apply to financial services and insurance products. Please refer to the site Help pages for our terms and conditions of trading and data protection information."
"20% off first order terms and conditions
We will automatically recognise you as a new customer and process your 20% discount if you have never shopped with Great Universal before.
However, the price reduction will not be visible until you receive your first statement.
This discount offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, and is restricted to one per person, and is only available on your first order.
The 20% discount does not apply to financial services and insurance products. "
I would post the links to these quoted sections, but understand that posting links to shops is frowned upon on these boards.
I can't find any mention of an exclusion for electrical appliances. Is this on the GU website?
I've had a thorough look, but cannot find any exclusions for elecrtrical items. As there is no mention of an exclusion for electricals in the '20% discount T&C's' then wouldn't I be entitled to the discount?
I've tried calling cus service to confirm situation but cannot get through (never a good sign!) and will update this when I get some news.0 -
UPDATE!!
Just called Great Universal & spoke to a really friendly lady on the phone. The 20% discount DOES include electricals. The discount already appears on their system & I will see it on my first statement.
As my first order is for a large amount I have had to pay a £50 deposit (acceptable via cheque, debit/credit card) This is basically a first payment.
This has been processed and all I need do is call back tomorrow to confirm order!
Delivery is stated as 'upto three weeks' - not ideal, but happy with this due to massive discount & cashback.0 -
UPDATE
Someone pointed out to me that you don't get the 10% GU cashback on the first £150 spent.
You have to pay £150 before they pay out cashback, but you are entitled to the 10% cashback on the full purchase.0 -
Thanks for that, I have ordered one today thro quidco. So far so good, my only concern is that I have used the 20% off first order at Littlewoods and these two companies are connected aren't they.0

Think so, but it should be ok. Whilst the companies might be linked, this is a new account and the 20% offer is for new GU customers. Might be worth checking with customer services before opening the xbox when it arrives as you cannot return it once seals are broken.
nb. My discount didn't appear on the order, but have received an email showing :XT2055 Microsoft Full System

I've spent a fair bit of time searching around for best deal and think this is it. It just takes a bit of time & effort.0 -

& it obviously applies to all electrical items as well.
Also noticed GU have the xbox 360 wireless network adaptor for £45... & that's before Quidco, GU cashback + any promotional codes. The rrp is around £60!! It's even hard to get one on eBay for under £50.0
