I'm not following the Boots points system? How do you get £30 off the Xbox 360 through the boots points? I thought you get 3359 points when you order Xbox 360? So would it not count towards the next purchase rather than the current one?

A quick clarification of this would be greatly appreciated as I'm hoping to take advantage of this offer if possible.

    Thanks

Fully appreciate that if you don't use boots then this offer is limited. Personally I've never met a woman that doesn't use boots and with xmas fast approaching its not a bad place for presents! My missus got all the points on her bootscard so they are lost for me, maybe I'll get a load of smells if I'm good
  • My premium + Pro Evo 6 + Live Subcription just turned up at home. :j

6 Hrs 32 Mins till I can leave work though.

another good tip for saving money re: xbox 360...

annual gold membership costs approx £40, but check ebay for pre-paid annual gold membership cards... I bought one for £22.95.

    (obviously check feedback etc first!!)

:j My xbox turned up yesterday (With the new dodgy courier  who also delivers for Next) anyway, it's here! and early than expected :D :j

Need a game or two extra now, thinking Marvel: Ultimate Alliance :o £29.99 @ Game but not found it cheaper yet :rotfl: and another one, sure someone posted a link to reviews of the games so I'll have a look at that

Ooh called GU on Tuesday and checked the discount, the lady said she would put it through manually so hope that's sorted. Excellent deal, well I'm pleased just hope bf is too, so big thanks OP!
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

  • Great news!!

RE: Games; I'd recommend the following..

If you like first person shooters... Gears of War. Best game ever??
approx. £30 via HMV, use discount code JF6572 + Quidco 11% cashback.

If you like racing games... Burnout Revenge. Not just racing (at incrediably high speeds) but crashing into opponents! More fun than 'serious' racing games (imo) Approx £20 on ebay, or Game offering it for £30 + Quidco 5% cashback

If you like role-playing games... Oblivion. Again approx £20 on eBay, or Game offering it for £30 + Quidco 5% cashback

If you like killing zombies... Dead Rising. Approx £25 on eBay, or Play.com offering it for £30 + Quidco 2% cashback

I'm not up on sports games, but there's loads of good ones apparently!

    From Xbox Live Marketplace...
    Cloning Clyde, ace platform game.
Texas Hold 'Em, poker... even though I'm useless at it!

Worth checking Gamespot for games reviews!!

The best games are still to come... Halo 3, Resident Evil 5 etc.
    Can't wait!

If anyone is after a 5.1 surround sound system then there's an xbox 360 themed Pioneer system rrp £300 - most places selling around £250, but it's £150 on Play!!!!! (search for 'Pioneer HTPGS1') + Quidco cashback @ 2%.
I'm not up on the techie specifications, but reviews are generally very positive for the £. Looks nice too! - I'm seriously tempted, but I've just been made redundant so should really keep an eye on my spending... and I should really be spending my money on dining room furniture!

You can also get two free games if you order this from an 'authorised retailer' - athough I don't know if Play counts. Details here
  • can that pioneer system be hooked up to a PC?
  • My Quidco cashback was received today, so this plan works as follows...

premium 360 for £309 from Great Universal

    - 20% first order discount (£61.80) = £247.20
    - 10% cashback (£24.72) = £222.48
    - 8% cashback from Quidco (£19.77) = £202.71

    Total saved = £77.29 or about 27.5%

and remember that you can pay for this INTEREST FREE!!

Please Note - there are really good package deals around at the moment, but if you're not interested in those then this is a great way to save some money and use that to get the games you do want.

I wouldn't buy any games from GU as they are more expensive than elsewhere, however the 360 wireless adaptor is still only £45 (rrp. £60) - so if you bought that along with the 360 using the above method, then you would get the wireless adaptor for £28.80!!! (after cashback)

It's possible to get amazing introduction offers with catalogues - I got an extra wireless controller for the equivelent of £5 from Littlewoods using a 'spend £60, save £30' offer.

Just remember to close your account once it's all paid off to avoid the temptation of further spending!!
  • can that pioneer system be hooked up to a PC?

Yes... Unless your pc is really rubbish!
check out the Pioneer website for connectivity options.
