Pixmania / Royal Mail / My Returned Camera!

Now I am mad!

I posted back my Camera because the power button had developed a fault (manufacturing issue, not wear and tear!).

I sent it via Royal Mail Special Delivery, cost me £7.40!

I have tracked the Parcel, says it was delivered by 1pm, day after I posted - great!

How ever, Pixmania tell me they haven't had it! Did Royal Mail really deliver it?

Where does that leave me? I have two contradicting pieces of information. One says they delivered it, other says it hasn't been delivered. Is this costly camera lost at my own expense?

Please help me!

Thanks,

Matt.

Tell Pixmania that you have the proof and give them the tracking number. How long since is it that you sent the camera back - could it be that they have just not put it on their system yet?

Get the name of who signed for it from Royal Mail and tell Pixmania that too!

  • I sent it on the 7th, it arrived on the 8th!

It's now the 14th, they've had 7 days to add it to the system - do these sort of things take that long usually?!

Not that long! I would get onto them again and give them the reference number - if they say not received or cant do anything try speaking to your credit card company and get them to start a chargeback though I suspect that you wouldnt be able to get your postage paid back that way!

Persevere with Pixmania and tell them that its at their end somewhere!

I had a similar situation with a company (long since liquidated) asking if they'd recieved it. They said no, I phoned royal mail and they confirmed it had been signed for and by who. When I phoned back the company and confronted them with that information suddenly it was "oh it's just been delivered". So perservere. I've also had trouble with pixmania sending me someone elses printer as well as the one I ordered and they wanted ME to pay to post it back to them. I don't think their delivery systems are all that good so I'd err on the side of it being Pixmania being at fault here.

  • Thing is, the item I'm sending back is nearly 2 years old! How ever, it is still being covered by Pixmania for up to 2 years, that is why I'm sending it back.

What can the Credit Card company do after 2 years?

Royal Mail should be able to give you a copy of the signaure of the signee. You'll probably dind the camera was "misplaced" when you give the signature to Pixmania :)
  • I returned a camera to Pixmania after it developed a fault 6 months after purchase. It was signed for on the 3 Oct 2006 byt they said they did not recieve it until the 23 Oct! I'm still waiting for the camera to be returned and following 3 calls to their customer service I'm no closer to a resolution. I hope they hurry up as it's my daughters first birthday in 3 weeks and I don't have a camera.

Oixmania may offer some good deals but I will not be using them again.
  • Agree there complete idiots - just posted myself before I saw this
  • Just had this reply from the clowns:

    Dear stephen

When a product is returned because of a fault, whether it is to be a refund, an exchange or repairs, it must go to the manufacturer or to an authorized repair center for a technical inspection. The purpose of this technical inspection is to establish what happened to the returned product. Unfortunately, in the past some people have returned items claiming they had never been used or saying that they had simply broken down when in fact the product had been tampered with / dropped / subject to misuse.
We apologise that we have to put you through this check, which has now become a standard routine, but we have no other option: the manufacturer is the one who agrees/disagrees to replace the product. Therefore, the return must be submitted to the manufacturer for the "green light", so to speak... If it makes it through their technical inspection then they agree to exchange. If so, we can also refund if that option was chosen/open to you. If, however, it does not make it through the technical inspection, you will be issued with an estimate for refund or you will be refunded only a fraction of the value of the new item.

I agree that the manufacturers generally take a rather long time to perform this technical inspection, and it is very hard to speed things up in any way, but it is a compulsory move (and, incidentally, is also mentioned in our Terms & Conditions).

Though i will chase it up and we will get back to you as soon as we can on tghis matter.

We expect a delay of approx 1 month from the date we received your goods here.
Please accept our apologies for the delay and for the incurred inconvenience.

    Best regards
    Team Pixmania

    I'm still waiting...................
  • I managed to get an email address off them (for having major complaints about their copy and paste automated responses!). I've written to the lady (and may post it if a successful resolution occurs!).

For now, sit back and wait I guess.. It's approaching Christmas, was hoping to have it back so I could use it!

A Pity really, they're probably so focused on getting more orders out, and therefore more money in. But what about the real customers who already spent money with them? I spose they don't care, since they have our money.

I just found out also, Pixmania is part of DSG (aka. Dixons, Currys, PC World), no wonder the service is so shoddy!
