I agree with what jenniewb has said, it WONT show on an enhanced CRB check As you havent actually been prosecuted for anything.

However it ''may'' stay on your police file, should you ever (not that your planning on ever letting it happen again) get yourself into a spot of bother with the police. But dont qoute me on that. If it does it will never go any further than the police. No one will ever know anything except them.

I would take it further, they have put you through hell for the sheer fun of it. They have caused you severe distress, and have prolonged that distress by pushing back bail hearings because they struggled to find evidence, because there was none to find. If they had this evidence in the first place to give just cause to stop you then it should have been easy for them to get enough to prosecute.

Sue them for loss of bargain, lol, sorry couldn't resist, I know this has been hellishly traumatic for you as it would be for any of us.

Ignore how the officers speak to you, don't read too much into it or take it personally, your forgetting the scallywags they have to deal with everyday, and I doubt it's not very often that they come across someone who is genuinely innocent.

Its just a shame that the accusation has been made, the damage has been done, and you will never get the chance to prove your innocence.

Walk back into that store with your head held high, yes they'll be watching you, but you've got nothing to hide. And as much as they'll be watching you - remember your fully aware of your rights now and they know that too.

It seems to me this loss prevention officer was clutching at straws (I wonder if he has targets to meet), I'm sure I read somewhere once that these loss prevention officers are contracted in from companies that specialise in this sort of stuff.

  • I only use Boots occasionally - their dispensing chemists operation is awful; things I want are usually out of stock in store; their security people behave as if all customers are thieves. But I do order stuff for pick-up in store. Well, I did. After reading what they did to Foxy Lady I shan't go into a Boots again till next November. Maybe others could do the same?

And please sue them or publicise this Foxy Lady - or preferably both. They're relying on being able to intimidate innocent customers without cause or comeback. They need to understand that really isn't good business practice.
  • foxy lady i've just read your story and am absolutely disgusted with the way you've been treated

i also think you should get advice from your solicitor about taking action against boots, and if that looks like a no go then seriously think about speaking to someone in the media - this website is powerful, people bargain hunting is increasingly newsworthy in this economic climate - a store-loyal bargain hunter being persecuted by a major high street store is newsworthy

the fact that you took your receipt in and that that didn't end this nonsense and boots' own mistake by giving you a giftcard is just disgusting

how do you feel about boots now? would you ever shop in there again?

Pampers boxes of nappies (68 size 5 or 82 size 4 - other sizes not sure about) are on offer at 2 for £20, I had some £5 off £20 spend vouchers (instore use only no code) through a couple of weeks ago along with £1 off pampers. Bought 2 boxes plus some cotton wool pads (£1.01) for £15.01. The offer is not listed on the shelves but was online so thought i'd try it, the sales assistant had to override the vouchers as the £1 wouldn't work but she couldn't understand why so was happy to do it. Hope somebody else finds this of use.

Foxy Lady I am absolutely appalled - how the heck can Boots get away with that? Have they actually offered you any form of apology? I would be absolutely blinking FURIOUS (although I am sure at the moment the relief is wonderful and I would imagine you are sick to the back teeth of thinking about Boots and want it all to just end now).

How dare they? I really do hope that you find the inner strength from somewhere (when you have had time to gather your thoughts and breathe a bit) to kick up a huge fuss. You have not done anything wrong and have nothing to hide. To think that they can put people through this and get away with it makes my blood boil!!

Meanwhile........my custom is going to Lloyds thank you very much and they can shove their points where the sun doesn't shine!

I had a CRB check for a role I took to work with Children, being it was/is with such vugnrable people it was the enhanced version.

I was also (wrongly!) arrested (not by Boots but by another major retailer-wont go into details here) the police arrested me, took me to a cell where I spent a few hours, let me go when they had absolutly no evidence (because there was none!!) I was so scard this would ruin any chance I had of getting work as it would show on a check. It did not.

I actually have a copy of the enhanced CRB check myself infront of me, it simply says "none recorded" at ever opportunity, it did not even get recorded.

I would though take this one step further: the whole thing sounds like a lot of stress and it wasn't even your fault! Its also been going on for a long time and just feels very unfair on your part to have all this happening when you did nothing wrong. I doubt you'll ever feel 'ok' going back into Boots shopping again or at least for some time. I know it wouldn't be somewhere I'd feel like going back to, as a result I'd want to report everything to a newspaper, magazine or bbc watchdog (the choice is yours) if anything to raise cash for the loss of the Advantage card and deals, glitches and offers.

Hope your not thinking about giving up- you deserve better from Boots!

I did say probably it can and does show up on an enhanced CRB check IF the force record it in such a way, not all do but either way Foxylady is now on the PNC and national DNA database through no fault of her own

Again I said PROBABLY and they CAN show on a CRB check as I know people who have had this happen it depends on the force, as someone who works with CRB checks and checks other peoples I do rather know a thing or two about them. Anyway as I said before that aside she's STILL in the PNC AND the National DNA database

Sorry Foxy Lady that Boots have treated you so badly. The way some of these stores behave surprised they have any customers. I have been in Boots today for the 1st time in 3 months ( too busy concentrating on Tesco DTD and TD promotion.) Got the no 17 3 for 2 with two items free and tried the Sanctuary freebie ( which did not work). I have had lots of trouble with the large Boots near me and I only go in on a Sunday when the trouts are not there.
My advice is just walk away from any store that treats you badly but as a parting gesture write a strong letter to their head office naming and shaming any store and staff that cause you trouble. I only go to the Tesco 5 miles away even though there is one in walking distance. My local treat you like a thief if you have a voucher and during DTD I just got sick of the supervisor being called every time I produced a voucher and having to go through the whole explanation thing because Tesco cant be bothered to train their cashiers.
The extra store 5 miles away is staffed by lovely young staff with a super manager. When the knife glitch was on I saw him allow people to buy what they wanted at the glitch price until it was fixed about 4 hours later.

Hi I was glad to hear that the charges against foxy lady was dropped and wish her well in whatever she decides to do about the situation she was put in. Also I'd like to let like minded s&g lovers know that the no7 voucher is working with all 3for2 including s&g. Just remember that no 7 item can't be the cheapest .

I stand corrected Rich44 - i have just done a bit of reading up on it. i have had several CRB checks and honestly assumed that if you had been arrested but not charged then it wouldnt show up. As I have never been arressted I wouldnt know wheter it would or not.

Sorry for going off topic - again.

I've edited my post to remove info as its really off topic and will PM Rich instead of clogging up the board.
