I worked for Boots up until last month when they sacked me - another member of staff had reduced some items that i bought - turns out i should not have bought them - i should have cjhecked with a manager first - which seems ludicrous. After 2 interviews and an appeal i still lost my job- However the girl that served me and the same person who reduced the items has never once been queationed. I lose my job n she gets away with what she did - Boots are not an understanding company by any means. So foxy lady who was arrested wrongly should drag the swines through court n get as much as you can out of them - they disgust me !!!!!!!!
Boots get away with so much when it comes to shoplifting and falsey accusing people - ive seen one person dragged out of store for attempted theft - which is wrong as he didnt actually steal anything.

I have had no correspondence from Boots whatsoever. The police have been in communication with them throughout. I asked the police woman on the phone if i was now allowed back in store and she said she didn't know and would check tomorrow. I then asked about having my things returned and she gave me the exact same reply.
I am getting the impression that they still suspect me but dont want to take things further officially??? My solicitor thinks it would be bad press for them that they dont want. IE- boots has loyal customer arrested and charged for taking avantage of its own policy'. I dont know what to think. I hardly slept last night and was expecting tonight to be even worse.

    xx
Hi Foxylady, how are you feeling today?
I know you have probably had enough of all of this by now. But what ever you do. Don't let this go. Don't let them get away with this. If you do, you will go on regretting it for the rest of your life. That you let them. It is now time to get angry. Get all that hurt, and stress and upset and torment and turn it in to anger and strength. You go get your pound of flesh that you so deserve.
I am sat watching television at the moment, and the perfect person who would get you your pound of flesh is on Dominic Littlewood. Maybe he would be interested in your case.
  • Boots will do everything they can so this doesnt get leaked to the press - they hide behind their stupid policies. I know of so many cases with Boots now and its time that people thought back. You drag them thru the courts Foxy - its wat they need so people can see just how disgusting they treat people.

Oh my word- thanks so much for all the support and encouragement.
After speaking to the police officer again she said I am allowed back into store and I can have my things back. DS will be over the moon because they took his gamestation trade in card that was in my purse. I have got to go and collect them at my convenience/expense.
Up to now I havent decided weather or not to pursue it any further. I am still in the 'relief' phase. My solicitor hasn't mentioned it. I should possibly add that he is the duty solicitor given to me from the police station, I organised it the day after my arrest when i realised i had made a huge mistake declining one initially.

Its hard to explain but when i speak with the police woman she makes out that i'm 'lucky' in some way. Sort of suggesting that if i did pursue boots they would dig & dig to find something?? She implies that they 'couldn't pinpoint' what i had actually been doing but said they would be 'monitoring' me. My advantage card and the giftcard number have been noted and will be supervised!! It is my understanding that with 'big brother loyalty cards' they could pull everything up instantly?

My online account is active again and my mermaid dreams set is still waiting instore according to my order history. It says online that uncollected orders are automatically returned for refund after 2 weeks. Mines been there since early feb!!

  • So glad u are feeling a bit better now foxy. However - i really would take this matter further - Boots cannot get away with what they have done - their instore cctv doesnt cover everywhere and they will do everything in their power to fight a case. I was acutally accused of changing my date of birth on the advantage machine so i could get over 60 discount - even tho there is no way you can do this on the machine. You never get any form of apology. Boots are so full of themselves wanting to be the leader in chemists - tho they hide all their customer complaints etc so they look better.
I personally would take it further - after all you were wrongfully arrested and have since been subject to all the grief. Why should boots keep getting away with their mistakes ?? I wish you all the luck hun and if i can help in any way just let me know x
  • Hi foxy-lady,

I've just read through what's happened and would like to say that I hope you're okay and that you're able to smile again! I can't believe how Boots have treated you, it is really is appalling! I also must say that I entirely agree with the other MSE'ers on here - you should go to the national press and bring this to everyones attention - this should be highlighted for everyone to know about.

Boots shouldn't be able to get away with this - especially as they're still saying they're going to monitor you.

I hope your son is happy now he's got his games card back!

Best wishes for the future Foxy, I hope you get a FULL apology from Boots...!

foxy-lady - really pleased for you. Hope you are feeling OK but "why should Boots get away with treating a customer as they treated you" not to say anything of the stress you and your family must have been through. Sending virtual hugs.

BTW arrest without charge will probably show up on an enhanced CRB check should you apply for a job requiring one in the future so you'll end up having to explain that to a prospective employer and furthermore what steps are the police now going to take to remove your DNA and fingerprints from the database?

I had a CRB check for a role I took to work with Children, being it was/is with such vugnrable people it was the enhanced version.

I was also (wrongly!) arrested (not by Boots but by another major retailer-wont go into details here) the police arrested me, took me to a cell where I spent a few hours, let me go when they had absolutly no evidence (because there was none!!) I was so scard this would ruin any chance I had of getting work as it would show on a check. It did not.

I actually have a copy of the enhanced CRB check myself infront of me, it simply says "none recorded" at ever opportunity, it did not even get recorded.

I would though take this one step further: the whole thing sounds like a lot of stress and it wasn't even your fault! Its also been going on for a long time and just feels very unfair on your part to have all this happening when you did nothing wrong. I doubt you'll ever feel 'ok' going back into Boots shopping again or at least for some time. I know it wouldn't be somewhere I'd feel like going back to, as a result I'd want to report everything to a newspaper, magazine or bbc watchdog (the choice is yours) if anything to raise cash for the loss of the Advantage card and deals, glitches and offers.

Hope your not thinking about giving up- you deserve better from Boots!
