Hi All,
Just need to vent my frustration. I sent letters to A & L on 2nd April for both myself and my son. Foolishly, I didn't send them recorded delivery and I also didn't make a note of the cheque numbers sent with each letter. All I wrote down is that the cheques were made payable to A & L. One of the cheques has been cashed, but they refuse to tell me which account is being processed. I keep being told that the department dealing with it is not customer facing and therefore, it is not possible for me to speak to them direct. I'm also being told that Customer Services can speak to them but they are not there at the moment and it may be difficult to verify which account is being processed. No notes (apparently) have been made on our files and I've had to resort to another letter giving them another 40 days from the date the cheque was cashed, threatening them with the Information Commissioner if they don't comply. I noticed somewhere that there is a fax number posted and I have managed to get another number, so if it is of any use here it is....0151-9663707. Here is the other number that is posted........0151-9663058. Just hope these aren't both duds:dance: Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
so does this mean that i will get a date for court and have to go, thanks for your response, it helps me a lot
You'll now get a court date (and maybe an Allocation Questionnaire), but A&L may pay up at any time. I'm also at this stage and am awaiting a date myself. It's highly doubtful you'll have to attend court ... I've only read of a small handful of people who've had to attend out of thousands! By the way, the banks NEVER turn up as they have no defence, their charges are unlawful and there's no way they could justify them in court.
Once you get a court date, it's wise to start to get all your statements and all correspondence you've received and sent together as these form the basis of the "court bundle". We have to be prepared to go to court, just in case. There's a link here to what would be required to send out to the bank and solicitor prior to the court date.

Have a read of this. It will all look very confusing and baffling but, don't worry, if it comes to it, we'll all help each other in preparing it. We WILL get our money backWins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
question.....I've heard that once you file a claim and are sucsessful they then close your bank account down?
Is this true?
and if so, do i need to apply for a new bank account?

thanks again to mimijane, will keep you posted if i get a date for court or a settlement, lets keep each other up to date, am on nights tonight, tuesday and wednesday, so may not respond quickly, thanks again
No problem Nappy ... there are a lot of us at the same stage now and we must all support each other.I haven't a clue what will happen now and am pretty scared myself, so it's good to know others are in the same boat. As my defence came in a week ago, I may hear something soon, so will post here to let everyone know what happens.

Think we will all be in Northampton soon, probably on our own. Some websites are suggesting that the high street banks are wasting the courts time, and there is a way of getting the court to get the defences case struck off (see penaultycharges website as an example)
We won't have to go to Northampton (unless there are changes afoot:rolleyes:) ... proceedings will be transferred to our local courts. Thanks for the link .. interesting, I wish someone would put a stop to the bank's silly games when they know they'll have to cough up in the end. These shananigans are putting so much unnecesssary stress on people and the courts must be at their wits end.

Hi Guys, good luck with the claims by the way
Just a quickie, i've already claimed against Natwest and got £2147 from them
I've sent my 1st letter off to A&L but have received nothing back (not a surprise) the amount was for £479, but since that letter in 4 weeks i've had another £200 worth of charges on my account
Can i write the 2nd letter and say something along the lines of you haven't sent me a reply from my 1st letter and since then i've inccoured another £200 so give me that back as well or i'll be mad  ???
what do you think ?0 -
hi again, yes my defence is dated 25th april, and as yet i still havent been in touch with wragge&co about clause 10, stating my particulars of the claim, although i sent a&l a spreadsheet of the charges, im not to late to send them am i, as long as wragge receive them before the court date, if i receive a date, and if it gets that far. i must apologise if i am repeating myself, all this has me totally baffled, my husband keeps saying "i hope you know what you are doing", thanks again to mimijane, will check online before i go to work later, thanks
You should be fine ... just get a schedule in the post to Wragge ASAP.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0
